RSM Classic looks a little stronger than past years. You have some competitive young guns and also some Europeans that stayed around for this tourney after The Masters. There are two courses that are played for this tourney, Seaside and Plantation. As someone that loves First Round leader wagers, I love it even more. Seaside is par 70 and Plantation is par 72. Course plays easy and should be some real low scores. Small factor I would keep an eye on is the wind direction/speed around 10-15mph area.
Webb Simpson is a horse for the course. I will keep a close eye on him. I wagered a little on him First Round to hedge my bets, but will hope he falls back if adding any money on him to win the tourney. Dustin Johnson/DeChambeau type odds are just to much for me to wager on him to win before the tourney starts.
You don't need experience at this course to get the win. Of the past 6 winners, 3 had no prior experience at this course. Majority of my plays are guys that do have experience at the course. Playing some longer shots and possibly add value as the tourney progresses. I have rode Munoz and McCarthy for a few tourneys lately and still high on them.
Outright win
Sebastian Munoz 45/1
Dennis McCarthy 80/1
C.T. Pan 70/1
Austin Cook 75/1
Plantation Round 1 Leader (Not as confident on this course. Also had Norlander before he WD due to Covid)
Doc Redman 33/1
Matthew NeSmith 45/1
David Hearn 80/1
Seaside Round 1 Leader
Sebastian Munoz 33/1
Dennis McCarthy 40/1
C.T. Pan 40/1
Austin Cook 60/1
Patton Kizzire 66/1
JJ Spaun 100/1
Webb Simpson 11/1 (enough to hedge)
At HUGE ODDS I wagered on amateur Davis Thompson as well. The guy played this tourney last year and has tremendous experience here. He shot -10 and tied for 23rd. He attends UGA and resides in the St Simons area where this tourney is played. Thompson played in this tourney last year because the winner of the Jones Cup went pro and he was the runner up. This year he won the Jones Cup by 9 strokes qualifying for the RSM Classic again. I was reading some article where Thompson said he has probably played the course 50-100 times. This year more because instead of in Athens during the quarantine period, he was at home playing this course routinely. He has the familiarity factor, same time is an Amateur and will see if he has the maturity and skill set this week. Will hope for a good showing but odds are long.
Davis Thompson wagers
Outright winner 400/1
1st Round Leader Plantation 80/1
Top 40 4/1
Top 20 10/1
BOL to all!

Patrick Rodgers outright win after the 1st round at 95/1
Shot a -3 after 1st round. Could easily see him flopping today but good value and has had a little success on the course before. Set to tee off in 30 minutes or so Otherwise just going to see what Pan and Cook do today

Only action I added was

Where did you see about the wind? Has transmission started?
Nice value play on Patrick. There still is a lot of value on the top. Camilo Villegas has been playing excellent from tee to green, but had been losing like 6 strokes putting per tournament. Yesterday he got hot with the putter. If the putter keeps warm, not even hot, I think he has a great shot at winning this.
If the wind is very bad at SS I will double dip Malnati and Camilo

I always check the weather reports on tournaments ahead of time. The weather report was showing 10-20 mph wind the day before the tournament and more so 10-15 mph on the day of tourney. The Seaside was playing 15-25mph from what I watched the first day.
I put some longshots in the mix for First Round leader and even LONGER SHOTs came in. I had Kizzire at -5 but no way would have predicted Villegas and Wallace at -6 on the lead. This field is stronger than most years with a lot of experienced guys playing this course before. Don't quote me but I thought I read somewhere where the winner of this tournament has never shot under par in any round.
Yeah the Rodgers pick was just a value pick. He finished 2nd here a few years ago. Basically a possible top 10 guy or will get cut after this round lol
I like Malnati and McCarthy in general a lot but they are hard to figure out. I feel like they can have 3 good/great rounds and implode on one of them.
I will probably lay off anything until after the 3rd round if I play anything else. I thought Pan played well yesterday but also left about 3-4 birdie putts from 10 feet open. Hopefully will catch something but not chasing anymore action.

Thanks for the kind words. This is the first week where whatever I picked really wasn't in contention at all. None of my guys even made the cut. Sometimes that is just how the ball is going to bounce. I didn't expect Munoz to shoot a 76 and 73. Ton of favorites either didn't make the cut or right at the bottom of the cut line. There have been a ton of longshot winners this year and when you have some star power out of certain tourneys it is going to happen.
I wager other sports but I have fun with golf. This is the only forum I post in now since back. I am here to encourage others and throw a few things I see randomly from the course or players for a certain tournament. I really could care less if someone wagers $5 or $50k on a tourney. I gave a brief breakdown when I came back to this forum. I probably should do matchups but that has never been my thing at all. I like First Round leaders(risky but huge value if hit) and Outright winner. I have won a few 1st Round leader wagers at nice odds so I can't complain. Weather, bad round, even bad hole is just going to happen.
Won on Air Force last night and only have Cincy over UCF today. Also.....I did add Patton Kizzire at 25/1 to outright win. He was -9 yesterday when I added it in 3rd round yesterday and think will tee off in 30 minutes or so. I really like him and Harris English, just couldn't pull the trigger on English at 5/1. Probably just hope Kizzire stays in the mix for the weekend. Way it is going it might be the kiss of death
