Viktor Hovland (-133) over Brooks Koepka - 2 Units
- Riding the hot hand with Hovland, who has remarkably lead the field in strokes gained tee-to-green in 3 straight events! He's knocking on the door for another win and looked very comfortable in his first appearance at Muirfield Village last week. Koepka looked rusty in his first week back after two weeks off after his caddie tested positive for Covid-19 en route to a missed cut. It was former Tour player Marc Turnesa on the bag last week and will likely be another fill-in this week. A little juice to lay, but tough not to like Hovland here.
Lucas Glover (-104) over Scottie Scheffler - 1 Unit
- I had the fade right on Scheffler last week, as he missed his 3rd straight cut. Unfortunately, Bubba made a 9 on his 5th hole of the tournament, leading to an opening-round 79. I'm going back to the well here with a much more consistent player. Glover has finished 23rd - 21st - 20th - 21st in 4 starts since the Tour resumed. He doesn't have many great finishes at Muirfield but has made the cut the last 6 years. That may be all it takes to cash this week.
Billy Horschel (+102) over Sungjae Im - 1 Unit
- This one scares me a bit, as Sungjae is not typically a player you want your money against. However, he has hit an uncharacteristic bump in the road the last month. Over the last 4 tournaments, he has gone MC - 58 - 53 - 63 with negative strokes gained T2G in 3 of the 4. I'm banking on Horschel to ride the momentum of a Sunday 66 last week and put 4 solid rounds together this week. At plus money odds, I'll take a stab at it.
Sepp Straka (+112) over Kevina Na - 0.5 Units
- Normally, I would say Na is a deserved favorite here, but he withdrew with a back injury in his last start at the Rocket Mortgage. He has a 2nd here back in 2014, but his last 2 appearances have gone 74th - MC. Straka is a solid ball striker and quietly trending, finishing 8th and 14th the last 2 weeks. Worth a small play here.
