US Open - Live streaming on ESPN3 as it is airing on ESPN2 from 9am - 3p tomorrow and Friday... safe to say I am getting nothing done at work the rest of the week. Investing heavily on tournament matchups this week.
Tournament Matchups
Phil +145 over Rory ... Love the value here. Phil was quoted as saying that much of the time on these greens you are better off chipping up. With Phil's creativity with his million wedges he should be able to mitigate some of the undulations existing with these re-designed greens. Rory has been consistent and is primed for a good tournament, but the value is in Phil.. 2 units
Jason Day -1.5 strokes -110 over Dufner ... While Dufner has had success at US Opens historically, I think his scrambling hurts him this week as he will be missing more greens than he is accustomed too. Day's has high ball flight and good touch around the greens. This one looks easy to me... 4 units
Jim Furyk -1.5 strokes +105 over Luke Donald .... Best value I can get in terms of matchups for Furyk. Donald cannot get over the hump in major championships, and Furyk is the best on Tour in scrambling this year. While Furyk doesnt make a large number of birdies, he avoids the squares way better than Luke and a couple under will be a damn good score this tournament.... 5 units
John Senden -115 over Brendan Todd ..... Arguably no one hotter on tour the last month than Todd, but it is his major debut washes away all of the stats in his favor in my opinion on a stage like this. Senden is a tested tour vet who is having one of his best seasons, if not his best. He has totally turned around his putting and has always been a hell of a ball striker who hits fairways. Should play well this week. ...3 units
May add some more round by round matchups as the tournament goes along.
Futures to Win
Furyk 40/1 ... .5u Day 25/1 .... .5u Miguel Angel Jimenez .... .25u.. just because he is the man
Top 10
Hideki Matsuyama +350 ... .5u John Senden +590 .... .5u
