I don't think there is any doubt that Rory wins tomorrow. He is the first player since Tiger that has officially taken over the "different level" status. When Rory is on his game, nobody can touch him. He can run away from a field like no other. That back nine today was insane. One of the best performances I have ever seen.
He has the ability to click into another gear when he wants.
He has the ability to hit shots that nobody else can or wants to hit.
He has the flash and the youthful disregard to just go for every pin.
That was what Tiger was 15 years ago...and it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Rory go on a similar streak

really, anyone want Sergio vs. me? No way he doesn't go backwards if he gets close on the back nine? If he was McIroy right now, there'd be big numbers on their way...

Rory and Rickie might become the next generation of Phil/Tiger.
impressive "wire-to-wire" win by Rory. before the tourney my brother-in-law who is a golf nut (it is his "sport" and dosn't really follow anything else) "pick five" was McIlroy, Fowler, Stenson, Kaymer and Furyk. specifically mentioned that Rory could "run away and hide" IF he got an early lead. that seems to be his "thing" when he wins a tourney. also went "wire-to-wire" with his 2011 US Open but did have to "come back" last two rounds of his 2012 PGA win.
considering that he has won 3 of the 4 "Grand Slam" tourneys now before the age of 26, joining only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, I don't see how anyone can say I dont see him as consistent enough to crown him like this yet. he is obviously the best golfer in the world right now when he is on his game
obviously also have to be impressed with "Rickie Tickie" Fowler (the Mrs LOVES him. says he looks like he could be Leonardo Dicaprio's brother) performance and also 44 year old "geezer" Jim Furyk. I will definately take a taste of Fowler @ 25-1 and Furyk @ 40-1 for the PGA (Bet365 odds)

The shots that really stuck out to me (and as some of you know I've been around the game of golf forever and it is my work and my passion)...was the birdie putt on 9 and the tee shot on the par 3 15th.
Nobody was birdieing the 9th hole all week. In fact, I believe they said there was only 17 birdies on that hole for the tournament. Rory steps up and hits a beautiful tee shot just past the flag and rolls in a 20 footer. Goes back up by 3 or 4 shots heading into the back 9...gives him momentum...and gains a shot on the field.
The second shot that really stuck out was the tee shot on the 15th. In the group before him Sergio tried to step on a wedge from 150 with the wind coming from left to right and slightly into their face. He winds up hitting it too high and the wind kills it short right. Then, trying to get too cute Sergio chunks the bunker shot and has to scramble for bogey. Game over. Rory behind him takes a sawed off 9 iron...knocks it 25 feet short of the pin, but still on the green...2 putts...par...move on.
That to me was the epitome of a major winner on the back 9 on Sunday being chased by a guy that hasn't won a major yet. Rory knew what the correct shot was at that point. Although it may have seemed insignificant at the time...Rory knew par was the absolute score to have at that point.

... Refreshing to read a informed point of view on golf.. Mnay of the threads are filled with uniformed quotes by posters like Lancer ( who I would bet cant break 90 at his local 6200 yd muni track).. Calling out golfers like Tiger as not being relevant despite winning FIVE times last year on tour and being injured this year.. Or his comment about the talent on the tour nowadays as being garbage.. When in fact the talent on tour is at a all time high.. Good read.. A poster who actually understands the game and I bet can play it also..

He wins on a fast, wide open links course like Royal Liverpool and then wins on a slow, tight course like Firestone...
He's definitely the fave going to Valhalla next week and unless something disastrous happens he will probably be the fave at Augusta next year for the Grand Slam.
