Will the rain stop DeChambeau at the Masters?

I'm sure by now everyone has heard about the exceptional practice round DeChambeau had at Augusta before the upcoming master. Although everyone should consider that the conditions he was playing in were perfect. The course was very bouncy which played a bog role in the distances he was recording, therefore he was able to crush wedges, irons and woods off tees in ways the field would never think of doing. The forecasted rain and thundershowers will reduce tee shot distance and effect ball flight. He has struggled in the past playing in rainy conditions, but then again DeChambeau will go to great lengths to study every variable to eliminate any miss shots.

That being said who would become the favorite if these unfavorable conditions arise?

DJ is considered the king of unfavorable conditions. He has a great low shot that travels below wind shear and doesn't require roll for distance. 

The big four (Bryson, DJ, Rory, and Rahm) are seeing their odds drop big time.

Rain actually benefits him. He will still be able to "cut the corners" where only air distance matters. And the guys who can not pull that off will now be even farther away from him. 

The lack of roll in terms of distance affects him exactly the same as it does with others. So if Bryson is losing 10 yards of bounce, the other guys are also losing them (maybe 8 yds but you get the point) But when he hits the erratic shot (which he will do more often than the rest), a soft course may minimize the damage. 

I was thinking into this, and there is a line where Bryson can be affected by a soaked course. When Bryson misses badly a fairway, he is very good at still finding the green via a "punch like shot", where he rolls it into the green. A wet course may complicate his life on very bad fairway misses. The thing is that given how wide the fairways are, probably there won´t be many. 

I agree that a wet course/rain won't hurt the longer hitters as much as the shorter guys, & the rough @ Augusta isn't feared. The one variable that comes into play though is wet rough. You can get some squirty shots, knuckle balls, dead balls.......it can cause some trepidation for distance control. That applies to everyone, of course, but the fewer of those shots you have the better.

That's a good point. It really depends what he decides to go with on the long Par 4s and Par 5s. I believe right now he's undecided on whether or not to use the 48 inch driver. I personally don't think he should for the reasoning you and MUGG provided. More inconsistent drives will likely land him in wet rough where he could end up really messing his score up.

All: who are your top five in using irons from wet rough?

 That's pretty hard to qualify........great iron players are great iron players. Wet conditions just add another element to contend with, ie more guessing how the ball will react thus making distance control a little tougher. My feeling is guys that like to work the ball will be affected more.
