you make some good points and i think anyone reading this, especially newer gamblers should reread it again.

what i think people fail to remember is that gambling doesnt have to be a dick measuring contest. someone might post that they play $1000 units and then other posters might feel like they arent "truly" gambling because they only play $50 or even $10 units. its shit like that that gets people into trouble quickly and puts them in a hole that they will have a real tough time climbing back out of. that is the whole point of units in the first place. its an aid to help others gauge the strength of a play and how much confidence that handicapper has in it. 

if everyone just posted dollar amounts, it does no good because everyones bankroll vastly varies. IMO posting an actual $ amount is just trying to get cool points from strangers on the internet. im not a big player by any means but i post picks to share because i have a level of confidence in them and want to help others win where i can. a 5 unit play for me might only be a 1/2 unit play for many others on this forum in terms of actual dollar value, but it doesnt matter because that's just a measure of my own confidence in the bet.
