I have been looking this up and this is what I have found
"Before the mid-1980s, the use of high potency performance altering substances in racing was less well controlled due to the inadequacy of analytical technology. Around that time, highly sensitive ELISA testing of horse urine was introduced to racing regulators by a group at the University of Kentucky." So I guess he was right about the 80s. I know they are changing the rules all the time. I remember back in early 2000's (I was still in high school) my grandpa chewing out his trainer the day of a big race because we had to scratch our house. He had given the horse a medication 2 days before the race. The year before you just couldn't give it 24 hours before the race and that year they changed it to 72 hours before the race and the trainer didn't keep up with the rule change, luckily for him my grandpa did. I read somewhere they are trying to make it were one group is over all testing at all tracks. I think that's a good idea. I think it's great we are getting better testing and learning more about what it does to the horses. I just wonder if that is the difference in the horses today and the triple crown winners we had then. |

As always good read slew.
I got a question. Do you think what your wife said is true, "they have bred the classic out of the horse"? I think it has a lot to do with the drugs they are not allowed to give them. My grandpa trained in 70s and 80s and now owns and breeds. I have talked to him a little about PEDs in horse racing and he said they really started testing more in the 80s. Hearing that and knowing we haven't had a triple crown winner since Affirmed in 78, it's hard not to think PED testing has a lot to do with it. We have had horses come out of a race bad and not be ready for next race we have picked out for him and my grandpa has said "back when I trained I could have given him (blank) and he would be ready, but its outlawed now". The way these triple crown races are so close together, I think we could have more winners if they could give them a little something to help them recover like they could in the 70s and before. I think if the belmont was not today and way another 3 weeks away and orb got 6 weeks rest instead of 3, I think he wins it. This is just my opinion on it and was kind of wonder what someone else thought about it. |

I thought it was a good ride. Orb just wasn't catching them. I hate it because he was my pick and I look for something to blame but I think it set up perfect for him and he just wasn't good enough today.

Slow night at work and I have just been studying the race and watch some of their past races on you tube. I'm starting to really like golden soul.
Everyone knows he finished great in the KD but his Louisiana Derby was very nice. He came flying up 8 wide and was gaining on revolutionary. The distance will not be a problem at all for him that's for sure. |

I hope y'all are right about the turn. I guess it all come down to the weather.
My belmont plays will be win money on orb with place and show money on golden soul and overanalyze. I'll play some tris, supers, and exactas with 3,5,9,14 probably put 2 and 7 in there some how. Good luck y'all |

I think with his post and the way he breaks bad is going to kill him. That's just what I think about him. He has been working amazing tho.

I'm betting point of entry gets scratched. They will probably be off the turf Saturday and I doubt he runs on dirt.

Revolutionary does not have a strong distance pedigree. The rains will move out early Saturday but they are saying around 4-6 inches. Track still probably won't be fast.

I'm with you GC and I can't wait for point of entry! He has been looking amazing in his works and is in tip top shape. As close to a sure win as it gets.

“It’s a great advantage to be on your home court, where you train your horses,” said Lukas, who used to have a Belmont-based stable. “They don’t have to ship in and get settled, and then get over the surface. They’ve already been doing that.”

It's his home track... It's where he trains its his home where he is most comfortable.
"It's great to have him back home" shug "It’s a great advantage to be on your home court, where you train your horses” |

I got one thing on orb. I think he wins this. I know he is the favorite and no one on here likes him to win after that Preakness flop he had. I think you can throw that race out while looking at him. Gary Stevens said that after the race right before the Preakness he walked across the main track (from inside to out). He said for his first six steps he just sank deep in the mud, then when he got to the middle of the track it got hard. He said he knew no matter what he knew he had to stay away from the inside. Orb was stuck on the inside the whole race. Back on his home track and with a good post I think he bounces back big.

I think orb wins but I like incognito. He's pedigree is amazing. He should be able to run for days.

I am really liking #6 Incognito at 20-1. He has the pedigree to run for days.
I also like over #3 analyze at 12-1. Not that big of a long shot but I can see him going off at 15-1. With his good race, bad race, then good race pattern he is following, he is due for a good one. Also think his running style will be perfect for how I see this race unfolding. 5,3,6 is my pick. What do y'all got and why? |

$100 to win on orb $10 exacta box orb and Incognito. $1 tri box orb, incognito, and over analyze that will be some good payouts.

I think he is a bad play. You won't get anything better than 5-1 on FC. Everyone is on him it seems. I've seen a lot of people say he drew a great post but I think it's a horrible post for him. He always breaks bad! If he doesn't break on top and being on the inside like he is he's going to he in some trouble.

Freedom child has been working great. He has impressed everyone at Belmont. I think his works alone will bring him down to 5-1. He's at 8-1 now coming down from 10-1. Orb has been switching from 5/2 to 3-1 daily.
