So i tried to check some posts of a covers poster here. Then i click it to view the post. When i do this, it shows the layout in the new forum layout. I can still view the forum as it is but it changes when i click on that posters post. Is there a reason for this? However, that mean we can still view the forum in the original mode?

When and where are these posted? Is it possible to post it before?

Thanks for that information. If that is the case, then wouldn't oddsmakers be not that sure about the lines since if there is a sudden goalie change, then the odds move very quickly etc?

How long typically are goalie starters announced? I took a look at rotowire and they do this but many times they would show expected as the goalie until later on.

Is there a list of the starting goalies for every single team? How many goalies does an nhl team typically have? I know there is a main goalie and a backup so at least 2. But does a team have a 3rd goalie? I checked some teams on covers and most have 2 goalies. So does that mean if a goalie doesn't get injured during the season, the backup goalie almost rarely plays at all? Thus collecting a paycheck by just staying on the bench? The other thing is i don't watch hockey but i do the scores and look at the standings for teams. Many times i would notice a line looks very strange/fishy and then people would say thats because the starting goalie is out etc which is a big deal. Does anyone know about how much cents a starting goalie is worth? Like if a team is -150 at home with their starting goalie. I assume the line would drop probably 20 cents at least? |

What would their record be?
What would be the spread if New England and Cleveland switched QBS and played in New England? What about Cleveland? What about neutral field?

RLeith, when do these sharp reports come out? Because back then i recalled these were out a few days before the game started. Also do you have the site of this and you know who writes this?

I don't watch hockey but i always look at the scores and standings etc.
What has me surprised quite a bit and i would like opinions on this. 1. Has Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary got a lot lot better? I recall last season Edmonton went pretty deep in the postseason and i think calgary did decent as well. I recalled back then, all these teams were the laughing stock of the NHL. I recall everytime i looked at the standands, it seemed Edmonton and Calgary always had the worst record in the NHL. That is true right? 2. Also is there a reason why oddsmakers are giving these 3 teams such big lines? They are huge favorites against many other teams. I always recall the best NHL teams are Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington etc. I'm surprised when they play Montreal and other top and medium tier teams, they are at least a pickem or even favorite. 3. I know Montreal and Anaheim are pretty good teams as they usually are ranked pretty high similar to Pittsburgh, Chicago and Washington. However, why are these 2 teams so horrible this year? What surprises me a lot is Anaheim has one of the worst home records in NHL. I recalled Anaheim always had one of the best home records in hockey. Now I can't even name you more than 5 hockey players names as I don't watch hockey. But i do check the scores and standings and these few things has me confused. |

I don't follow hockey besides looking at the scoreboards and standings but i do look at the lines and the scores etc.
Why is Washington a pickem in this game? I know Washington is one of the top nhl teams and Buffalo is one of the worst. The thing is i cannot name any hockey players as well but i do look at the lines. But im guessing the only thing that would make sense here is washington's goalie is out? |

I was looking at this line and was curious about this. How is this line basically a pickem with LAA being a slight favorite? Washington is at home and has the bettor record and pitcher. I believe one of their top hitters is out? However, how can LAA be close to even money here? The line went from -135 all the way to around -105 so essentially a pickem.
I would have thought Washington would be minimum -150.

Is there a way on covers to subscribe to a thread or a covers user when they make a post? Such that when they post a play or make a post, you can get an email notification etc? In other forums they have something like this but only when you subscribe to a specific thread. I'm going to assume there is nothing like this?

Does anyone here do this? Pinnacle offers these lines at end of 1st and 2nd intermission.
My thinking is if there is no score at end of 1st, wouldn't taking the over 3.5 be a pretty good bet? Its always going to be 3.5 or possibly 4.5. With totals however, if there is say 3 goals in the 1st, well the total should be 7.5 goals or sometimes 6.5 goals. So taking the under might seem good since well the regular game is 5.5 goals. However i think no score at end of 1st and taking over 3.5 for full game seems pretty good usually? Now for the sides. Isn't it usually good idea to take a big favorite that is losing at the end of 1st for the full game? Almost always they will be an underdog. Unless of course its a huge favorite. But still its close to even money. The thing is say a team is -200. They are down by 1 at the 2nd of 1st. The line should be pretty close to even money i believe right? I believe the favorite would still be a slight favorite? Now if the team is -160 for the game, obviously they would be small underdogs. My logic is its hard for a underdog to keep the lead and win. But yes that logic isn't that good but i think you know what my point is. However here is the issue with this. Say the favorite is losing 1-0. If the favorite scores a goal in 2nd period, well they are now the clear favorite when score is 1-1. But if the underdog scores the 2nd goals, its 2-0 and that seems like its close to out of hand for the favorite right? Basically when you take the favorite losing by 1 goal at the end of 1st, the next 2 goals that need to be scored has to be by the favorite. Because if not, say its 1-1... then its 2-1 the underdog winning, favorite is still behind. Does anyone here have tips for live betting nhl? I actually noticed that favorites who are losing at the end of 1st intermission usually are starting to not make a comeback. Another thing i noticed is if a big favorite is losing by 2 goals or more, isn't it generally a good idea here to take the favorite on the puckline? Say a -180 favorite is losing 2-0 at end of 1st. The puckline would be favorite getting 1.5 goals. I mean, shouldn't this usually be an autobet? I mean its hard for an underdog to win... but you need them to win by 2 or more... and doing that in hockey is hard. However like in previous example, that would mean when its 2-0... if favorite scores, then underdog scores, its 3-1 and still a 2 goal game. Very curious on what the hockey posters here think about this. The thing is i have a tough time taking an underdog who is up by 2 goals at the end of the 1st period -1.5 on the puckline. Because they only played 1 intermission, theres still 2 left. I feel like its either bet the favorite on the puckline +1.5 or the ML.

People look at line movement in sports like football, basketball and baseball since those sports are bet a lot. I know there is lot less betting in hockey compared to football and basketball. If thats the case, wouldn't that mean line movement in hockey means a lot more than other sports?
However, im sure many average joes in Canada bet hockey so its like your average Joe in America where they bet on the favorites etc right? The thing is when you look at nfl, nba etc, everyone bets it. So there is lot of bets coming from sharps and average joes etc. Has anyone here tracked line movement in hockey? Do trap lines exist in NHL more so than other sports? We always hear about trap or fishy lines in nfl and nba. But what about nhl?

Since this is a hockey forum, I'm going to assume a huge portion of posters here are from Canada right?

hey there. So for the 1st example of parlay you posted, how many parlays did you bet then? So you also bet it individually right? Can you use the first parlay example and post all the parlays? Thus you can just abbreviate it quickly for each one?
Well if you are betting a lot on these, you are making a lot of money based on your parlays.

So can you use basic example such as $10, $50 or $100 as a unit for these plays? Yankee parlay @301 phi-tor Over 6.5 @ 2.20 nj-buf = under 5 @ 1.91 was-chi = Draw @ 3.55 Ottawa Senators by 1 goal -60 mon @ 6.75 Im confused here. So this parlay pays 300 to 1? I put these numbers on parlay calculator when converting it to american odds and its 100 to 1. So for example $100 wins $10000. Where is the 301? Im confused here. So here you bet each of these plays individually. Then one parlay of all of these? How much do you bet each play and how much do you bet on the parlay? Because like the other example, im guessing your parlay bet size is smaller than the bet size of the other plays right? |

Misters. Can you post how much money you wager on each of these bets? And how many bets you are making and list them?
Singles and a Trixie parlay @ 190 = la-ott = Draw @ 3.6 was-chi = Draw @ 3.55 Buffalo Sabres by 2 goals - 60 min = @ 8.50 What does singles and trixie parlay mean? Also @190. Does that mean +18900 odds? Thus $100 wins $18900? When i put it in parlay calculator those odds come to 107 to 1. So im confused here. In the above, so you bet each of these 3 plays individually? Then bet 1 parlay of these 3? How much do you bet on each play and how much do you bet on the parlay? Im assuming you bet same amount on each parlay but for the 3 play parlay, that bet is smaller than your average bet of each of the 3 individual plays? |

Lucky 31 Estimated Returns : C $402,019.10 Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 @ 15.00 Montreal Canadiens 3-1 @ 17.00 det-stl = Draw 2-2 @ 10.00 Los Angeles Kings 4-0 @ 46.00 Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 @ 26.00 So here you are betting on exact score for each of these 5 games? And also betting a parlay that all 5 would happen? Thus if all 5 events happened with these scores, you win $402,019.10 CAD? Is that right? How much did you bet on each single wager in your post? Can you post it? Im very curious how much you bet on each and how much did you have to bet to try to win $400,000 CAD?
