@Drake-The-Snake Mayo is going through some growing pains clearly. Hopefully they get him the offensive help he needs. |

Teams are pretty decent against the spread after firing their headcoach mid-season, 9-2 in the last 11, 15-4 since 2014, according to ESPN. I imagine because most of the teams that do this don't like the coach much. But the Jets defense undoubtedly loved Saleh. Does this effect the trend of covering the spread after a coaching change mid-season? |

So I was pleasantly surprised. It looks like Maye can play. Hopefully they don't RG3 him up.... Still so horribly under-talented pretty much everywhere else on the field around him. But encouraging signs of life at the most important position in ALL of professional sports. |

@brn2loslive2win This is why they play the games.... BOL!

@rosswin97 Also I would say ALL rookies get the benefit of the doubt when they first start.... or at least they should... |

@rosswin97 I'm not making excuses. I'm simply thinking out loud about how this could end up. I'm no Patriots honk. So you're barking up the wrong tree with the excuse making. This team is trash, 3-4 wins tops, Maye isn't changing that total all that much. Even if he is the second coming of Brady. Which is almost impossible... |

@brn2loslive2win Chalking there current success up to maturity totally negates coaching and system. Which are both very big parts to the equation. I can admit skill is skill. So we agree there. If he can play. I'll say I was wrong. I hope I'm wrong.... However, a really bad system or situation can hinder the early development of a non transcendent player. Or a player that isn't just great no matter what! Rg3 comes to mind as a skilled qb who was destroyed by a bad situation. Who knows how many other qbs might have been serviceable had they sat a bit longer. My money is on Maye being hurt more than helped with the early start behind a patchwork line and nobody to throw to. Never mind AVP and the ancient westcoast shell of an offense he's running up here. |

Houston had better win. New England with a rookie getting his first start should still struggle. After what Houston did to Buffalo and Allen. Maye is going to be a crash test dummy out there too! |

@undermysac My bad... hahaha! Tough to keep track of all the fake injuries to get qbs back onto the field asap. |

The likelihood Maye is the next Mahomes, Elway, or Brady is VERY slim. Throwing a rookie, who might not be ready yet, to the wolves is never a good tactic in the NFL. Look at Jordan Love, Aaron Rodgers, even Mahomes sat most of his first season. Sitting and being patient is the path. Unfortunately they didn't build the team first, THEN draft the qb. Kraft is fucking this team up. I thought it was ALL Bill's fault. Now I'm not so sure.... |

@brn2loslive2win
What about Sam Darnold, Mayfield, Geno Smith, and Jared Goff? They all started out not so hot on shitty teams. All of a sudden, with decent talent and coaching, they're playing some of the best football in the league right now. |

The Drake Maye era has begun in New England. I think this is a dumb idea. He should sit out the whole year until the o-line is decent and they have some receiver talent as well. I'm pretty sure he's going to get smashed. Maye could have a "back" injury like Josh Allen had in Houston. I'm a Patriots fan and I think this a very shortsighted and ill-advised decision. Does anyone think this is a good idea? |

How about ROI? Kind of takes the price out of it. Simplify it all for posting purposes anyway. |

Justin Fields was the other QB I was thinking of.... had Darnold on the brain... |

Geno Smith and Sam Darnold are missing from this list. Get ready to add the Red Rifle to that list as well. Bryce Young is trash! |
