Former NBA standout Tracy McGrady, pitching for the independent Atlantic League Sugar Land Skeeters in his first professional baseball game on Saturday night, gave up two hits and two runs in 1 2/3 innings against the Somerset Patriots. The 34-year-old McGrady, who had not played baseball since high school before retiring from the NBA last year after a long playing career, threw 35 pitches. He allowed a home run, walked two batters and had no strikeouts. The debut outing left McGrady with a 10.80 ERA. The independent Atlantic League team is coached by former major leaguer Gary Gaetti. The 6-foot-8 McGrady last played baseball in high school before embarking on an NBA career that ended with more than 18,000 points and two scoring titles.
