I thought of this exact theory a couple years ago and started tracking it about halfway through last season. 

I tracked every game where the spread was at least 1.5 points different from kenpom's fanmatch line (but I kinda like your criteria better).  I started on 1/22 and tracked every game until 3/24 and the "kenpom fade" ended up going 369-300 (55.16%) with a +0.97 ppg margin over the 669 games.

Also slated to make an appearance are the rehabbing relieving pair of Andrew Bailey and Craig Breslow, both of whom have been set back with elbow injuries. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
