Huge Browns guy here who originally thought they would handle business today, but something tells me they'll lose big this week and then shock everyone at home next week and beat the Broncos.
Hopefully they'll win/cover today, but I've seen it too many times where the board is loaded up on the dog only to have them get smoked. Either way, good luck everyone

I'm not sure I agree with the Hoyer slowly coming apart at the seams comment. Although he doesn't do it pretty, Hoyer leads the league in 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives (including 1 last week vs the Bucs). Of course we'll get arguments that the Bucs stink, but who cares, a comeback is a comeback. The Browns are now 8-3 in games that Hoyer starts.
Either way, I think the focus should be on the Browns Defense not Hoyer. After giving up 30, 24, 23 and 28 points in their 1st 4 games, they've settled in and only given up 10, 24, 13, and 17 in their last 4. Again, yes this was against Oak, Jax, and TB, but remember they only gave up 10 against Pittsburgh (who has the best offense in the league since that game). The 24 that they allowed to Jackonville is a bit skewed as they gave up 14 points late in the 4th quarter, an 8 yard td drive off of a muffed punt with 6 minutes left and a 7 yard td drive off of a Hoyer int with 5 minutes left. The odds are definitely stacked up against the Browns as they haven't won a division road game in over 5 years and the Bengals haven't lost a regular season home game in over 2 years, but there's something about this Browns team that has me thinking they can somehow go into Cincy and walk away with the win. Remember, Roethlesberger was 18-1 against the Browns until 3 weeks ago. I don't think laying almost a TD to this team is the smartest move.

Not sure who to take this week? Just wait until next week and smash the Browns

Browns beat a tough N.O. squad that some people were picking to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this year and are still a home dog vs the Ravens this week? If the Ravens didn't destroy Pitt last Thursday, the Browns would be a small favorite in this game. Either way you slice it, the Browns should win this game by 2 TDs.

Browns should be a small dog next week vs the Ravens. I'm thinking they'll win this game by double digits. Will set up for a much better play if the Browns get smoked by the Saints this week, but either way it'll be a solid play

Post on 4/29 was a little early for Hamels, looks like he's rolling along now. Phils should be good money tonight.

Team was in shambles last year. Manuel should have been let go in June, but the organization wanted to get him his 1000th career win with the team. They went 3-20 in July/August while trying to do so. Sandberg came in and had the team playing very well up until the last 10 games of the year. I'm not the type to throw out locks/sure shot bets, but this is one of the best bets I have ever seen in my life. Healthy Howard/Utley and Lee/Hamels at the top of the rotation, 80 wins will be a breeze. If one or 2 of those players get injured, I'm still confident they have a good enough core to overcome.
Good luck

Stevo, thanks for your input. As a lifetime fan, what were your thoughts on Charlie Manuel? Do you feel that he cost or won them any games last year? |

Hop on this now before they change the line to 90.

Great insight tiger. However, I'm not a big believer in breaking down a lineup and going position by position to figure out if a team will go over because it never works out how you think it will.
I've been a phillies fan my entire life and I've been following them closely since 2000, they are way undervalued this year. Public perception is everything. I'm sure you will find far less people from Philly that agree with me on my prediction and from the 1st few comments it looks like the majority on covers will disagree with me as well. |

Everything that could have possibly went wrong with this team last year did. Charlie Manuel not being in the dugout should be good for an additional 4-5 wins. The team went 20-22 after Sandberg took over in the middle of August which includes 2-9 in their last 11 games of the season when they were trotting out Zack Minor and Tylor Cloyd as starting pitchers. Everyone in Philadelphia has totally given up on this team, which is usually a great sign that the team will over perform. -Top 10 Rotation** (In my opinion) -Healthy/Improved Bullpen -Healthy Howard -New Manager The defense in the Outfield is a concern to me, but we aren't talking about 90 wins, we are talking 79 wins. I can't see this team not being a .500 team. I am usually spot on when it comes to this team, however, I think I had a write up on here in 2011 that said I did not think they would go over their win total, so I am wrong at times.

Although we have a pretty impressive win here tonight from Philly, I think Dallas had the much more impressive win today. Not just winning on the road against a hated division rival, but coming back down 9 points with only a few minutes to play. Unfortunately, people aren't going to remember that, they are going to remember Romo choking the game away last week and the Cowboys getting smoked on national TV to the Bears the week before that. Not sure what the line is going to be, but I think Dallas comes away with a Win at home and actually makes some noise in the playoffs.

I've read that in multiple threads in the past few days, but I don't understand it. Every game for the rest of the year is just as important as the next. If they did have a "super bowl" game, it was 2 weeks ago vs the Ravens as they had lost 10 straight to them. They beat Pittsburgh last year at home and have played them pretty well over 3 of the last 4 games, why would they care so much about this game?
If they happen to beat Pitt this week, we can assume they will be able to handle Jax next week, then maybe we can talk about their "super bowl game" when they go into New England the following week with a 6-6 record and fighting for a playoff spot. But who knows if that will happen.
