I've seen a lot of the picks on this board are for Cormier. I haven't seen much of him and was wondering what he brings to the table and why are many of you on him.
No action tonight for me. Before Cormier, stepped in, I was on Bigfoot taking out Overeem. Thoughts? |

I think that stretch when he was being an "ass" was due to the fact that he knew he was in no real danger (Maia, Leites) and also the fact that he took it easy on his country men. Kind of like raising them up while keeping his title. His last two fights he finished because in Vitor, he knew that Belfort was a real threat with his hands and athletic ability. For Okami, I think he wanted to put a show for Brazil and a KO was in order. |

Here's my official plays:
Cane over Nedkov Shogun over Forrest I was leaning on Schaub but can't commit. That crowd is amazing and I'm thinking Nogeuira may pull off some Tito-esque old guard of MMA magic in his hometown. If anywhere else, my money is on Schaub. |

I'm with you on Shogun won't like it if this fight goes to the ground with the bigger Forrest on top. That's why I'm thinking Shogun uses his speed and striking to keep Forrest from taking him down. Also, I saw a interview with Forrest and he seems like he's not in the fight mentally. He just seemed like a more down and glum Forrest. Take it for what its worth.
Also, I'm leaning on Cane due to his experience and having fought this year. Nedkov hasn't fought in almost a year! I have a feeling the hometown factor will be in effect for this fight as well as a step up in competition for Nedkov. |

I just hope Shogun doesn't gas. Late 1st or early 2nd round TKO for Shogun.
Anyone got any info on this Nedkov character? Is this his UFC debut? I saw Nedkov vs Cane and my first thought was, "this is the showcase/gimme fight for the Brazilian fans." |

I just can't see that many homers losing. While I don't think they'll do a complete sweep, there are dogs that'll def cash.

Good eye Mr. Thomas. I was reading lines in on Pinnacle in decimal form and thought he was the dog.

I'm ready for this card yesterday!
Lots of fights with heavy odds for the favorites/Brazos. Here are my early thoughts. Hometown advantage will definitely be a factor. Silva will make Okami look like Maia, but this time he will finish the fight. With the odds favoring pretty much all the Brazilian fighters, there has to be some value on a underdog. Schaub perhaps? Shogun will avenge his loss to Forrest. No way Shogun gets subbed again. My play as of know is Shogun over Forrest. Have at it boys, who you got? |

Where are you guys seeing this line and for what card is this?
I'd be on Diaz on this as Gomi hasn't necessarily been a world beater since coming over to the UFC. Yes, he still has that KO power but he'd have to put on high heels to tag Nate's chin. Plus, where has a Diaz been knocked out? Wish I could get that early pick'em odds :( |

Just like the last UFC, I split in my picks.
Win on Cerrone, Lose on Miller. Better than losing big I guess. Where was Miller and his wrestling? I didn't think the size advantage/length of Bendo was going to be that much of a problem for Miller but boy, was it ever. Miller just got dominated. Can't wait for the Anderson Silva card! |

split the night on my picks because of miller. didn't expect a one-sided domination. wow. I thought his wrestling was his way to victory but he couldn't even get it started.

Also, don't underestimate the fact that he's now part of Jackson's Academy. (Greg Jackson trains George St. Pierre, Rashad Evans (until recently), Jon Jones, Shane Carwin, Brian Stann) (Also note that when fighters make the change to Jackson's Camp they seem to reinvent themselves and revive their careers--> Carlos Conduit, Clay Guida, Melvin Guillard to name a few). By no means do I think Cerrone is going to roll over Oliveira, but I do think the +130 you get on Cerrone is definitely the best bet of the night for the cheese you are getting. Word. Coun't have said it better myself. Go Cerrone! |

Another UFC event, another dollar. I almost forgot about this card with the big UFC in Brazil coming up.
There are a couple of matches that I'm looking forward to see. In particular, the fight between Jim Miller and Bendo and Lytle going against Hardy. I expect the former to be a technical fight and the latter providing some fireworks. Here are my picks for tonight: Miller vs. Henderson Since getting slapped kicked by Pettis, Bendo hasn't really impressed me in his fights in the UFC. Miller on the other hand has been on a tear, winning 8 in a row. I see Miller using his wrestling base and smarts to grind out a win. If Miller fights smart and doesn't put him self in a position get caught in a submission such as a guillotine, he should extend his winning streak. Cerrone vs. Oliveira Cerrone via veteran savvy. He had a safe gameplan in his last fight and I expect the same from him tonight. Call it the "Team Jackson-Style" but I feel he's ok with getting a win over being exciting. Oliveira is young and explosive but he will not have anything new that the vet Cerrone hasn't seen before. Good Luck, Enjoy the fights! |

Nice to hear all the the views on some of the fights tonight.
I'm sticking to the two leans I mentioned in the 1st post. Rory MacDonald and Hammil. The youth of MacDonald and the his explosiveness will be key against Pyle. As for Hammil, I'm hoping he goes back to his wrestling to control the fight for a win. If Hammil comes out like how he did against Rampage, it may be a long night for him. I was thinking about putting down on Hendricks but can't come around to it as both fighters really seem evenly matched. No action on the main events as well cause I'm liking the heavy favorites in Rashad and Belfort. Good luck and lets get that money! |

Good Luck on Tito. Not playing the fight but I don't see him taking this one over the younger Rashad.
It'll be a good fight to see where Rashad is after a long layoff and switch of camps. |

thanks for clearing that up BigHurt. Didn't know Pyle was up there in age either. Makes me feel better about a play on MacDonald.

I see why people would play Hamill at his price, but I think it is a terrible matchup for Hamill. Imagine what the line would be if Hamill wasn't so recognizable to the general public. Hamill's wrestling doesn't impress me enough to think he can win this fight.
As long as Hammil doesn't try to stand up with Gustaffson, I think his wrestling is more than effective. Hammil just needs to set them up better and not telegraph them like he did in the Rampage fight. |
