Completely shit the bed last week, never saw the winners circle.
The underdog has been non-existent in the Finals. Favs 7-1 SU (7-1 ATS) with the only 'dog' winning being the Doggies who weren't really an underdog anyway, at least not with the bettors. That has never happened in the Finals for the last 13 years, maybe even longer but I didn't go back any further.
Small lean Melbourne based on this being a defining moment for the franchise given the whole cap thing pretty much destroyed all credibility at the club and I'm sure the class and quality of the 'Big 3' will go all out to prove a point. No too mention this could very well be the last game under Bellamy.
Couple other things as well...
Dally M winner has never won a GF.
Since Rod McGregor and John Bailey piloted St George past Parramatta in
1977, no halves pairing has tasted grand final success without boasting
at least one international. That's 35 long years. Keating and Reynolds ??? Hard for me to see it happening but who knows. Been a crazy season for sure.
Favorite has won the last 6 GF's in a row and is 11-3 overall since 1998 (that includes the stripped Melbourne titles). Broncos in 2006 were the last underdog to do so albeit in a very dubious manner via the dodgy video ref, game was against the Storm though.
The ref tonight Tony Archer buys his coke from Bellamy's nephew. Finest 'china white' in Victoria. Storm are 35-16-1 last 52 games under the Archer (6-1 in 2012).
Evaluating prices etc before locking anything in...

Firstly. Dogs are a good team, not a great team. Knights had no pack this year and happened to play a Souths team with one of the comps more dominant packs. They were no match. Bunnies were the better team until they lost their halfback and didn't have the mental fortitude to cope with the situation last week. Storm have a much better half and stronger mindset.
Have never put a bet on based on historical stats, I do find it interesting though.
It would be quite the remarkable feat if Hasler got this current Bulldogs squad a title in his first year all things considered. Not to sound like a broken record but I just do not trust their halves.
Line is identical to when the Dogs played the Seagles in Week 1 of the Finals...
