Did anyone hear what the refs were saying to each other in the Knights / Dogs game?
Apparently the dogs coaching staff had the rabbits ears on and they could hear just before half time talking to each other..."this game is going to change, this game is going to change"....
The refs then proceeded to blow 6 penalties in a row against us...
I fucking knew it.....so corrupt.....if that doesnt prove it, then i dont know what will...

I don't subscribe to any theories about referees betting on games (or at least games they're officiating in).
However I've got no doubt whatsoever that these guys DO attempt to keep penalty counts as even as they can and / or "find" penalties for teams that are trailing in a match.
I think the reason they do this is because they think it'll keep coaches quiet and keep them in first grade.

But at that point in the game, the penalty count was 1-0 to the dogs...if it was 5-0 or 6-2, then i would buy into your theory, but it was basically even, 1-0.....the thing that was lopsided was the score....

yeah and that was my second point - ie that refs will find penalties for teams that are behind on the scoreboard.
A home team down 0-24 was a shoe-in to get some "help"
I'm not saying it's right, cos it's fucked, but with rugby league "all about the product" these days, it's not surprising

and the most infuriating part is the way both television networks go silent on these things. No doubt that one of the "T's and C's" of their coverage is giving the referees an easy time of it.
ABC radio guys are the only ones that question some these bizarre rulings and runs of penalties for one team or the other.
I reckon if / when we get this new TV rights deal done and "television timeouts" become the norm, we've gotta get refs calling their rulings like the NFL refs do.

well, that's open to interpretation I guess.

I do like the idea of having the rulings told to the crowd like the NFL. Keeps everybody in the loop and they wont be able to make the BS calls they do now.

This. I totally believe these guys try to keep the games as interesting as they can. I also believe they buy into comebacks and somewhat try to make them happen.
In a sport rife with gambling talk and bookie sponsors nothing would surprise me. It's basically IPL with an oval ball.
Best thing for the NRL revenue-wise is a Bunnies/Dogs final...

Worth noting these rules don't apply to the Warriors...
