Crounlla Sharks also know as Crounlla Sutherland Sharks are in the box seat for a maiden NRL title. They been in this spot before in 1988 and 1999 with minor premiership wins but went out in straight sets not even making grand final. I calling that they will win the minor premiership again their 3rd in there quite long history. But will it be 3rd time lucky or as the saying goes everything comes in threes and cruelly they may bail out in straights set again like the past generation of sharks semi final teams.
Things in the sharks favour is that it was only 2 years ago that rabbits won their first premiership in 42 years and the Cowboys last year their first in 20 years. So the pattern could continue with the Sharks first in 50 years.
This period has broken the years of manly melbourne dominant years. Melbourne is hanging around but not winning grand final. Manly on life support in past few years trying to just make the semis.
Is this the sharks best ever chance of winning the premiership. Manly should not going to make grand final like they did in the two grand finals loses they had in the 70s. Surely the broncos are not going to roll them like in the super league. There is no longer a powerhouse team now. The salary cap is working. They are at least the best team in the comp equal or the best.
Is it better than the 1988 team that only lost 4 regular games all season. Is just making a grand fial like winning a grand final. Do the nrl want another fairytale to boost membership numbers in clubs than on the lower end of number of season holders.
If the sharks win it be a big win for the nrl. The media would sell heaps of papers. The number of viewers watching the grand final the underdogs status would shorely match that if not bigger than the rabbits or cowboys wins in recents season.
If the sharks dont make it. Will it be another 20 years before they get to this stage like it was in 1999. Souths had 3 bigs years choked 2 times but manage to win there last great shot and the way the club is it may be 20 years before they win another one as it looks like souths have been brought back in the pack a bit since that holy grail win.
The cowboys seem to go strength to strength on the other hand. Looking at good odds to go back to back since big brother Brisbane in a nearly non existant salary cap years of 92 93. It would make Thurston a shoe in for an immortal status that really is nearly the case all ready and would show to the dominance of Queensland football.
Gallen may have only won one origin series but have the gods got a rewarding gift of the premiership at the end of his rugby league journey. If so the pain of all these origin loses would be soak up with the prize of a premiership ring.
As they say time will tell.

Yeah Emkee i agree. Townsend is the weakness that cowboys and storm can target and put pressure on. Be intersting to see champ. I like cowboys as long as Thurston fit. Good punting.
