Conspiracy analysis.
The NRL would love nothing more that to see a tied series heading up to QLD. It would generate more interest all around. Especially as the TV rights are getting negotiated , the ratings for game 3 would go through the roof with a tied series.
The refs, even though NSW got more penalties in game 1, it feels as though NSW are "owed" from the refs, especially because of that Inglis try. I would expect NSW to get the refereeing favouritism tomorrow night.
Game analysis
In terms of the football teams. QLD without a doubt, have a much better team. QLD in game 1, for the most part looked like they didnt really want to be there, especially the first 20 minutes of the game where NSW were all over them. It was only when Jennings got sent to the bin that QLD woke up and did there damage. Smith looked off colour, Slater was dropping bombs.
In the second half, QLD i believe didnt have a tackle in the NSW 20 until there was about 10 mins left in the game. NSW for the most part were attacking, but lacked cohesion. QLD, it seemed were just trying to defend the lead which was strange.
Todd Carney will have a better game IMO, but so will Billy and especially Cooper. Dont under estimate the loss of Thaiday, he does alot for that team, especially in attack.
The NSW team looks better, more grunt with Tim Grant and Watmough will add some good footwork and power in the middle.
TO me, the key is Mitchell Pearce and what composure he will show. He is not a pup anymore and had a fair bit of experience, but in the last few weeks has shown ZERO composure.
QLD @$2.00 , when you look at that roster, look incredibly tasty, very very tasty, however, the conspiracy theorist inside me makes me think NSW will win.
