Tough night Monday but looking to bounce back with two plays tonight.
Richmond vs Essendon
Going to keep going to the well until it runs dry and by that I mean I'll keep fading Essendon until they prove me wrong. Richmond were admirable in defeat last week. Fremantle were vicious and strangled Richmond around the stoppages all afternoon but Richmond were still in the game at three quarter time. Essendon however have given up and should be looking to next year so they might try a few new things tonight. Richmond should be too quick around the ground for an injury-riddled Bombers and should pull away late for the cover. High scoring affair here.

Manly vs Brisbane
Going to keep riding the Broncos as they underdog. They've covered their last couple of starts and have performed okay against Canterbury and Melbourne despite them both being losses. The biggest concern has been their late fade outs. Speaking of fading out, manly were held in check in the second half last week. But I wouldn't read into it a whole lot since they were up big at the break and they were never in danger. I think we see a close game here with Brisbane getting a couple of men back. And in a close game the plus handicap seems the strongest play tonight. Brisbane need to find some form and I think they stand up tonight.

Okay here are the facts on tonight's game. Both these teams have been unimpressive lately. With Melbourne notching three wins against - let's be honest - average competition in gold coast, brisbane and Penrith. Meanwhile the sharks hadn't really been playing well until they beat an extremely lousy warriors team who everyone is beating lately. And they also won last week over the most overrated team in the league - souths. On souths for a moment, they are the biggest frauds in the comp who haven't beat one quality side all year. Their best wins include a win over the bulldogs in round 7 when the dogs were not established and the cowboys in round 5 or something like that. Anyway rant over.
My point above is this - both teams are playing around the same level in my opinion and although the edge has to go to Melbourne at home I think the sharks will make a contest of it like they did earlier on in the year against a much hotter storm team then. Sharks will want to win because they won't want to finish 7th, which is still a possibility if canberra win and they lose to the cowboys next week. On the other hand, storm have a slim hope of the minor premiership but that would require a bulldogs loss next week. So I give a slight motivational edge to the sharks.
I also expect this game to follow the trend of the last game between the two in that it'll be low scoring. So with that said the best play in my opinion would be to take the 8.5 start.
I am concerned with the sharks poor Monday night record this year but I think in a game where both teams will be desperate at both ends of the field you have to take the points on offer. Best of luck.
