AS Monaco/Red Star Belgrade - Love that AS Monaco played to a goalless draw on Friday as, again, regression towards mean in terms of seeing a 1H goal will be in play, especially against a Red Star Belgrade who is just not on par w/ most of the teams in this competition. It fields a side competitive enough to spring an occasional upset, especially at home, but those are few and far in between. It just got romped on the road by a rotated Inter squad and while I don't rate Monaco anywhere close to Inter, Monaco just has too much quality up front to not find the back of the net 2-3+ times today. Feel like Monaco's been a bit feast or famine for its' usual standards over the years to begin the season but I easily see a goal plus in the 1H today. Will be on the runner live.
Juventus/Stuttgart - Took the Juventus ML/spread at -120 on Sunday night and am a bit disappointed to see the line move a bit opposite of what I expected, currently settled around -105. I'm just a huge believer in Thiago Motta and think they'll be in this thing late into the year. The Old Lady's only conceded once domestically but 3 through two games in Champs League showing that domestic and European form are not tied to each other but I still believe in this defense and Motta's tactics. Think Juve win this thing 1-0 2-0 w/ Inter on the horizon.
Arsenal/Shakhtar - Feel pretty bad for Shakhtar having to face a pissed off and frustrated Arsenal side (see Declan's comments over the weekend). One thing about Arteta's teams in this competition is they play scared on the road but crush opponents at home (see the first two matches) in true Jekyll/Hyde fashion. The 1H total is sitting at over 1.5 and I don't think I've seen it that high in any competition for Arsenal other than in domestic cup games where it's playing against third division or lower squads. Took the 1H spread at -1 as I can't see Arsenal not leading at halftime, especially w/ the 1H total so high. Will be looking at a 1H goal runner opportunity if that first goal doesn't come early...or maybe I'll just bite on the over 1.5.
Aston Villa/Bologna - Grabbed the spread on Villa at -1 on Sunday night for plus money and think it's a push at worst. Unai Emery. That's all you need to know.
Sturm/Sporting CP - Goals. These two just played in home-away group stage matches in Europa last season w/ both games seeing 3 goals. Both teams play w/ attacking intent. 1H goal runner here.
Whew that was a lot. Wishing everyone the best w/ their plays.

Yikes. So lucky arsenal found the net there. Was seriously getting worried as both Arsenal and Sporting games were big conviction 1H plays for me. Wanted to bet the over 0.75 and 0.5 live but took them big at over 1 so laid off. Hoping we get a second in both games.

Think Sporting finds a second somewhere but not sure if Sturm will. Took a look at the odds at halftime for Sporting's over 1.5 and it sat at -240. Think it's only a live play in game for me at better odds.
Just a few quick thoughts
Arsenal/Shakhtar - Again very lucky to be even out on that 1H. Very lackluster. Maybe team is already looking ahead to Pool on the weekend? Something I like only for the value is Shahktar to score. I know it seems crazy but Champs League can be flukey and given 1. Arsenal hasn't conceded all competition yet and 2. Shahktar hasn't scored all competition yet think a $20 flier at +400 or above would be a value bet for me strictly going off regression towards mean.
Juventus/Stuttgart - Maybe I overestimated Juve underestimated Stutt. Juve just looked straight out bad. Thought bout taking Juventus to score but I may just sit on the pregame Juve ML/spread.
Aston/Bologna - The game I like the most. Expecting goals. Will take the over 1.5 and 2.

Was thinking the same thing at halftime. Looked hard at the over 0.5 for them at -150 but wondering if Motta is ok w/ a point given they're sitting pretty from the first two games. Hope we're wrong and they get one late.
