I don't believe this will end a tie.

Hungary is obvious not England and Denmark. 

Iceland can advance  from qualifiers with a win here. I believe they will exceed expectations.

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungary national team coach Marco Rossi tested positive for COVID-19 and separated from the team in quarantine a day before their crucial Euro 2020 playoff match against Iceland.

"After several negative tests Marco Rossi's latest test showed a positive result," the Hungarian Football Federation MLSZ said on Twitter. "He was immediately separated from the players and the staff."

The MLSZ said further information would be available at the team's evening news conference.

Iceland team is rising and Hungary team is effectively leaderless...

Iceland have faced some top teams in a very tough schedule of late and that could stand them in good stead for taking on Hungary in their Euro 2020 play-off final.

Erik Hamren has named a vastly-experienced squad for the trip to Budapest and they may just have too much nouse for the Magyars at Puskas Arena.

A Look At Hungary’s Betting Odds
Hungary did well on home turf in their qualifying group, beating Croatia, Wales and Azerbaijan in front of their own fans.

However, they went down 3-2 to Russia in the Nations League when the stands were empty at this venue last month.

Although losing to Russia is no disgrace, the manner in which Hungary fell 3-0 behind was worrying, before a late rally salvaged some pride.

Last month’s 3-1 semi-final triumph in Bulgaria flattered the Magyars, with even head coach Marco Rossi admitting: “Bulgaria played better than us; we were a little lucky.

“I don’t know how I feel, to be honest. On one hand, I’m happy at qualifying. But I’m not happy with how we played.”

There are some talented players in this team and Mainz striker Adam Szalai is a proven goalscorer, netting 21 times in 66 internationals.

But we’re not convinced their defence is up to this level, especially against a physical Iceland side.

In between all of those difficult Nations League fixtures, Iceland impressed in a 2-1 semi-final triumph over Romania which was more convincing than the scoreline suggests.

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored twice in the first half and Our Boys dominated for long periods, only conceding from the penalty spot on 63 minutes.

“We were really tight, created a lot of chances and prevented them creating much,” said skipper Aron Gunnarsson. “Overall, we were really strong and it’s good to have the old gang back together.”

Iceland famously reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, notably knocking out England, and the energy and resilience associated with them remains.

Time is running out for some of their senior players, but most of the veterans are still attached to decent clubs around Europe.

This Euro Cup qualifier will be played in Budapest, the Hungarian capital, where the Magyars will also host a pair of UEFA Nations League matches this weekend and next Wednesday. Serbia and Turkey come through and are each behind Hungary in Group 3, so Hungary has a chance to advance and potentially earn promotion ahead of first-place Russia if it perseveres at home and gets some help. 

That makes me doubt just how much the team will invest in this Iceland match since key midfielder Dominic Szoboszlai is affected by a COVID-19 outbreak at his club Red Bull Salzburg, that may or may not feature false positives. The club originally denied all international call-ups, so the 20-year-old standout who is being eyed by much larger teams throughout Europe may not be available until at least the weekend.

The winner of this match enters Euro 2021’s Group F, which will feature France, Germany and Portugal, making it the unquestioned ‘group of death’ in the competition.

Iceland defeated Romania at home last month before falling to Denmark and Belgium in Reykjavik, which is one reason why it is the underdog here since its last road game in Brussels produced a 5-1 loss. It benefits from the fact that no fans will be in attendance in Hungary due to a nationwide coronavirus outbreak. Augsburg striker Alfred Finnbogason should factor in at some point and AZ striker Albert Gudmundsson is in good form. We’ll ride with Iceland in this pick’em, betting the spread to push in case this ends in a draw in regulation.

As you will see here I stay to a David Hume standard and the dissenting view from coach Rossi is that he feels confident with his team.

He plans to utilize adam szalia as much as possible and states I will send warriors to the field that won't give them ( Iceland) an inch....

I love this thread cause I circled this game. Iceland is ranked higher (albeit fifa rankings are suspect) but history has Hungary 4-0-1 all time v Iceland. But man, Iceland is one of those up and coming teams that I just dunno how they lose.
