watching the market (and its european books, not vegas) and some sharp money has gone on brazil in the last 24 hours.
This is a very hard game to cap, south american flair against german efficiency. Lets get to the elephant in the room, yes brazil will miss neymar but I would argue silva is the greater loss.Oscar Willian and Bernard are possible replacements while Dante who plays for Bayern Munich will ironically replace Silva. I can see Brazil playing this emotionally, playing for their injured "hero", lets not discount either Brazil have 2 world cup winning coaches on their bench, you can't but that sort of experience.
Like Brazil, Germany aren't the imposing team of previous world cups, there's a lot of holes in form, unconvincing wins over France and USA, the draw against Ghana, what germany do have in their favor is the best striker on the pitch in Muller and the more solid back four.
I'm not sure what to play here, I should probably play germany for my futures but I do lean Brazil here, homefield advantage in a world cup semi final cannot be underestimated, all Germany will see is yellow for 90 mins (or more).
If I do play, i'm eyeing some value bets like the correct score at 90 mins of 1-1 at 11/2 and its 5-1 to go to penalties.
All this being said, almost 2/1 on Brazil to win a home game in the world cup would have been unthinkable a month ago, books often over-react to injuries, my lean is Brazil here and Germany go out as losing semi finalists for the 3rd world cup in a row.

barb, as you know fifa is one of the most corrupt organisations on the planet, it really is rotten to the core, the whole qatar world cup bid will lead to a massive internal investigation hopefully, and of course Blatter promised he would stand down but no, he going to run again, unopposed as usual. And, yes the bottom line is fifa want Brazil to win the world cup.
morning rant out of the way , all the overnight and day money is flowing onto Brazil, the sharps are making Brazil a slight fav now to win in 90 mins and/or qualify.

This match really is a coin flip for me. I lean towards Germany because Brazil have injuries and there hasn't been once match where I've thought Brazil actually look like a quality side that will go on to win the WC.
However, the decisions Brazil have been given in their matches have been ridiculous. It's been said from the start, but whether it's referees giving in to home crowd pressure, or FIFA wanting Brazil in the final due to the tension and rioting about money being spent on the WC instead of elsewhere, this it too tough to call. I thought Croatia were robbed in their first match and more importantly so were Colombia.

sotto, agree about this match being a coinflip but colombia were outplayed by brazil for long periods, and the ref should have given out more cards to BOTH teams.
And of the 4 teams left in, none of them have shown the "quality" you're referring to, that usually favors the home team.

I think Germany showed a lot of quality against France. They had a great strategy and France was never able to play their game. Germany dictated the pace and the match. Of course, they lacked to create more chances in the last part of the pitch. The last pass didnt find müller or klose. But they often got in the rooms between cabaye/matuidi/pogba and the four defenders. I expect the same today. They should be able to get in this area because they have the quality and the advamtage in the midfield. That means chances. On the other hand, brazil wont be able to create a lot offensively. They couldnt do it with neymar either. So they have to rely on free kicks and corners.
