Rayo Vallecano v Levante over 2.5 -107 to win 2 units
Levante started off a blundering mess of a football club, blundering and stumbling their way through their fist game of the season v Barcelona on their way to a 7-0 drubbing. They promptly righted their ship and played a tight game v Sevilla in their subsequent game and took a 0-0 result.
The hosts RV started the season with a 3-0 home win against Elche and promptly followed that up with a “Levante-esque” defensive 'effort' at Atletico Madrid that saw them fall 5-0 to one of the “other” big clubs in Spain.
This game presents an opportunity for both teams to secure the full 3 points and I anticipate that both will attack to try to obtain those much needed 3 points to try to sneak away from the relegation pack. Yes it is early in the season but these are the games teams that will be life and death for relegation need to secure points in, as they will always come back to haunt them later on in the season.
These two teams match up well against each other as far as the over is concerned. Sometimes those trends are very easy to overlook but we have to consider that tendencies are indeed tendencies and of the last 4 head to head meetings, the over 2.5 has gone a perfect 4-0. (3 goals twice and the other two games produced 8 goals and 5 goals). Stepping out one more game, I note the over has gone 5-0 in the last 5 H2H meetings with Royal Vallecano scoring at least 3 goals in 3 of the last H2H matches in all competitions between these two teams.
Another interesting data set that I got out of my database was that Vallecano have seen 7 of their last 9 home games go over 1.5 in the first half. That is not to say that this will happen again in this match but given the strong tendency for first half goals in their matches, such early goal scoring starts means that we don’t have to sweat out the conclusions of the match too often (and while I am not saying that 2 goals scored in the first half is a lock for a 3rd match goal, it does put us in a very favorable position should it occur again).
This game will be played at 11pm Spain local time so the weather will be cooler allowing the game to flow a little better. (Many Spanish early season matches are played late to get around the sometimes overwhelming day time heat. My spreadsheet handicap for this game is 3.42
I'll be back later should any other game meet my criteria.
