You surprised that RM elected to have Vinny take the PK instead of Mbappe? With as much money as they spent on Mbappe you would think they would want to get him going and a PK would be just what the doctor ordered. Plus isn't Mbappe known to be almost as automatic at a PK as Messi? Like literally one of the most dependable PK strikers currently in the game? Seems odd to me.

Yup, I was sort of counting on him being the penalty taker to start his goal tally in Spain. Odd indeed. 

I am sure that will be a top question in the post-game press conference.  Very odd.

Almost kinda creates drama for no reason on this squad. Well hopefully Mbappe hits the game winner and all will be good for all on this site.

Right but why? Seems to me that Mbappe has a better reputation of being a more consistent PK striker. Am I wrong?

 Both are very good at PK,s. It is very uncommen that the new guy in his first year with a club will be given that role. That is not to say that Mbappe will not take one this year. Sometimes if a star player just does not get going the manager may give him the kick to try to boost his confidence. 

Although it can backfire if he misses then even more negative thoughts can set in. Every manager is different and always has the final say on who takes the kick and or kicks in sudden death. So you  are not wrong at all. As great as he is Mbappe is the new guy. 

Messi could go back today to Barca but Robert would still take the kicks.
