I watched this match and there was no second red card in the 2nd half. Only the rapids GK received a red card in the first minute.

i also watched this game.1st minute 2nd half how was la awarded a penalty kick then?the guy took down a defender and maybe i am wrong then
Red cards and penalty kicks don't necessarily go hand in hand.
In the first instance, the goal keeper deliberately took down the Galaxy player in order to prevent him from scoring. In that case, the foul resulted in a straight red card (ie. kicked out of the game because of the severity of the foul) and since that foul took place in the box, it resulted in a penalty kick.
In the second instance, the referee ruled an inadvertent hand ball in the box and therefore awarded a penalty kick. The fact that no yellow card was issued means he didn't necessarily think it was a deliberate handball but, at the same time, that it could have been easily avoided had the defender managed to keep his arms to his side. As for a red card, that's usually only issued in extreme cases of handball (like swatting at the ball with your hand to prevent it from going into an open net).
Soccer's a goofy game...
