Im not somebody complaining they lost money, but i recently changed from a smaller sportbook to a bigger (bet365) , my other sportsbook only let you bet on big games like english premier league.. looking at this one they let you bet on anything.. like u18 soccer, u20 female soccer.. theres literally like 100 different games on every day, some of which its hard to believe are even played due to finding actual results/stats is near impossible, just wondering if its safe to bet on these games too? Or better to stick to what you know and bigger games that mean more , (bigger leagues)? Ive never seen this many games in my life and some u19 ones and reserves seem fishy is all

More or less what im getting at is, some people bet thousands on games, and some of these leagues i dont even think the players are even paid to play in. Also their live betting barely/can't even track some games.

Haha.. this is exactly how i felt when i first joined Bet365.. the ridiculous variety of games you can bet on is insane. I usually make it a point to never bet on games that i can't find streams to because who the darn knows whats going on there.
I mean i once saw a live betting market being offered on a game in the Canadian soccer league CSL with teams like "Toronto Croatia". I know for a fact that these guys are mostly amateurs that get paid like $200 a game because a high school teammate of mine played on them.

Lots of games are rigged - just google soccer match fixing to read about the numerous scandals in European soccer. I wouldn’t be sure, but I’d guess that the higher the profile the game, the less likely it is rigged - the guys fixing the games have no interest in being in the spotlight - though there was a huge problem with some big clubs in Italy in the aughts with Fiorentina, Lazio and Juventus suffering enormous sanctions.
People also confuse match fixing with a team losing on purpose. Again, that is not in anyone’s interest who’s helping to arrange results. It’s never about winning our losing, it’s about the spread or the handicap.

I've worked as a sports book trader and now manager for several years now in Europe and I can assure you that there are MANY matches fixed in the lower leagues, but none that I have ever heard about with solid evidence in the top flight leagues.
One resource you can find out a lot about fixed matches is Federbet, which annually sends out a report about matches with highly suspicious betting patterns/results. To be fair, they do make some unsubstantiated claims as well, but in general most of their information is accurate.
Spanish Tercera, Italian Serie C and other fairly recognisable development leagues have had serious problems with match fixing in the past years. I've lived in Malta, where match fixing was quite widespread.
The worst league for fixed matches was the Canadian Soccer League. I don't think there is a bookie in the world that takes bets on those matches anymore, as it was a semi-pro league where players basically did not get paid and were being influenced by bettors from Eastern Europe working with a syndicate in Singapore. Because match fixing isn't even illegal in Canada, there were no consequences and the authorities basically could not do anything even if they found any evidence. A team could be started for 150k CAD (about 115k euros) and could probably make that money back in 3 fixed matches.

Interesting insights here. Glad to see some serious answers in the Forum rather than "stop whining, get a life, stop betting" etc. which is quite common in other Forums on Covers.
I am sure there are some sidicates which are involved in match fixing in the lower leagues. The most important point would be to stay under radar. Hence, that kind of information is almost impossible to come by. Especially anywhere on the Internet or public sites.
Also, as Loose pointed out, match fixing is not always the same as losing the match on purpose. Even in top leagues some scenarios make you want to scream FIXED! but in reality it is just statistics taking a tall on an average bettor. Look at last game between Everton & Watford. I had it as DRAW, Watford goes on 0-2 lead, Everton comes back and the game is tied at 2-2. 90th Minute 3-2 Everton and within 2 min penatly for Watford. Easy Money right? WRONG. They missed the penatly. Simply bad luck, or was it fixed?
Anyhow, if there is any fixed betting I would definitely look at lower leagues but wouldn't get my hopes up to finding any reliable source.

Gotta love bet365 for its ridiculous markets, especially what they offer live on the games too. Its a plus to being non-american (i think they cant use bet365).
If you're a gambler who just likes to bet on whatever action is available then bet365 is trouble for you. The action literally never ends.
As someone who caps on other major sports (NFL, MLB, NCAAF etc.) I find I only have time to cover the major soccer leagues anyways. Its simply too much to follow, I can only keep track of the top 3-5 leagues plus champs and international play.

one thing i cant stand about this term 'fixed' matches is that its almost always related to LOSING plays. do you even understand how many times ya might have even WON a play cuz the match was "fixed"??? just that nobody freaking knows about it.
bryson - the "BIGGER" the league the less variation you will see in the lines. strictly speaking from the "value" standpoint. yes, literally thousands of options and 100's of league/divisions to choose from. can get overwhelming for anyone "new" to this.
"what im getting at is, some people bet thousands on games..." this is where many folks make grave mistakes. come in from other sports with the same approach. NFL is just 4-5 months with a limited amount of matches vs soccer which is a year-round thing. I always advise people to get the dollar signs out of their eyes before approaching soccer. you cannot.... and should not.... apply the same strategies with soccer as you do with other sports.
for anyone new, I would just suggest to educate yourself, become familiar with a certain league. heck, even get yourself in a fantasy league just for a season. if for nothing else other than it will 'force'/help you familiarize urself with the players, clubs, coaches etc etc. wont guarantee you success, but its a lot cheaper than gambling on it.
find your "thing" and stick with it.
Loose - you just HAD to bring up Italy didnt ya? (the bat signal). I dont disagree with you, but also dont agree to some extent on when you mention it doesnt happen to the bigger leagues. its not as prevalent as people think. i should post up that article I wrote several years ago on how soccer matches are 'fixed', but i just try to avoid this topic as much as possible, you're just as knowledgeable & even moreso as I am in certain leagues and honestly thats always a "slippery-slope" topic to converse on.
Federbet is totally unreliable.

Pior "The most important point would be to stay under radar. Hence, that kind of information is almost impossible to come by. Especially anywhere on the Internet or public sites." folks, LISTEN to this man. BANG! BANG! BANG!!!
I lost that Watford bet too, along with a BUNCH of others already this year in that same exact scenario, but never once has the idea of it being "fixed" went thru my head. so its nice to come in to this forum and see someone with the same attitude. are we Naive? no, i dont think so. sh*t happens in soccer. a LOT of people b*tch about losses without ever really understanding the situations, tendencies etc etc...... but it cant be because of their shortcomings. no no no..... its gotta be SOME OTHER REASON other than the fact than that they arent knowledgeable in the sport....... "FIX" is the all-encompassing excuse which makes themselves feel better about themselves because they were/are too DUMB to understand laying -350 juice on an outright is suicide in the long run.
but hey.... what do we know about it. right? theres a whole bunch of guys in here whom have it STUCK IN THEIR HEADS that you cant be consistently profitable in this sport.

This guy gets it.
The soccer forums voice of reason. Obsessed.

Spec, not that it “doesnt happen to the bigger leagues”, just that I’d venture to guess that it is more prevalent in lower leagues, or smaller countries where the players, coaches and referees don’t make much money.
You have to think about how a game comes to be fixed from the beginning. Players/refs/coaches don’t go and search out organized crime elements and propose shaving points, or fixing matches — they are found. What often happens is that these people are involved in wagering in other sports and get in the hole and can’t pay. They’re then informed of a way to “make it right” which could be a missed shot, pk or running out of bounds.
The reason I say that it’s less likely to happen in the bigger leagues is that the people involved are generally less likely to be in financial trouble but if you do see a fix that that level it will most likely involve the officiating and not the players.
You only have to look at the NBA and Tim Donaghy... it’s beyond a joke that the NBA (and the other three major sports in the United States) want people to believe their story on Donaghy.
“Nothing to see here folks. There was ONE rogue referee but there’s nothing to worry about because we caught ‘im —business as usual.”

Loose, exactly. long gone are those days where a group of guys got together and threw a match so they can fund those family vacations in the Meditteranean during the summers. cant do that anymore; too many watchful eyes and whistleblowers. like Pior mentioned, you wont find any of that stuff on the internet or public sites. ever see those threads which the mods delete quickly? "got inside info on a fixed match......" (laughing)
but lets not be naive and think it doesnt happen, ya want to throw a match nowadays theres only one person you need.... the ref. and as you said.... it isnt to create an upset. keep a big HC within a goal.
look at that South Africa - Senegal game being played tmrw for example. this is a WC Qualifier.......... a World Cup Qualifier for godsakes.
not some friendly or some lowly 2nd/3rd tier league in middle of nowhere.
the match is being replayed from last year.
the referree was banned............ FOR LIFE. for a lot of dubious calls.
he should have come to Italy fer a while..... we couldve taught him the 'proper' way of throwing a game. tsk tsk tsk.......
