Sporting - Braga: Pick: Sporting @ 2.00 (1 u)
Big meeting in Portugal in Lisbon where Sporting are in the hunt to keep in pace with the top teams in order to battle for the title race. They take on Braga who are experiencing some turbulence as a club, with poor results, and fired coach Jesualdo Ferreira earlier this week right before the big meeting with Sporting. Braga aquired a coach from the second divison which has made fans react questionable as they were hoping the club could show more ambitions.
Let's stick to Braga for a while, as they are having an awful season which can only be described as a fiasco and the board had enough of the dreadful results. Their road record is 2-1-6 and they square off versus one of the most comfortable home teams in Sporting who are 6-4-0 at home with 22:5 in goal differential there. Paixao was hired a few days ago, the coach from the second division is thrown into the spotlight right away with a tough road game in Lisbon. He will be in charge of a short squad at the moment who has many weaknesses at this point. Left back Nuiro, and defensive midfielder Custodio (14/1) will miss out on the game due to suspensions. Striker Eder (9/1) and right back Miljkovic and left back Joaozinho are also injured, so they are quite weakened on the wing back positions which can be crucial versus a team like Sporting who plays a lot with their attacking wingers down the flanks.
Sporting on the other hand have cooled off a little in the scoring department but got back to winning ways after a hard fought victory on the road versus Rio Ave. They looked sharp and got 3 vital points. It is needless to say that this is a huge game and huge points on stake for Sporting. They will miss their best striker Fredy Montero (13 goals in 20 games) and also midfielder Adrien (4 goals in 20 matches). However, I am not worried about those absences, because the replacements are of good quality. Islam Slimani will start up front, a striker who has scored 4 goals in 16 appearances, but he has started on the bench in 15 of those, and he is always a good presence in the box, in other words he has scored many times coming off the bench and he truly deserves to lead the line this time. The return of vital defender Rojo is a boost for sure, so despite Montero being out, I do not read into that too much as Sporting are still superior in the vital categories
Odds opened at 1.67 and are now 2.00 due to Montero being out. I look past that and choose to see the value and the fact that Braga are in a pickle. The new coach have not even had time to get to know the players that well and the defensive missings might be crucial. I go for Sporting as the game means more to them at the moment and the home advantage surely helps versus Braga in stumbling form and a disappointing run of games

Aberdeen - St Johnstone: Pick: Aberdeen @ 1.75 (1 u)
With Aberdeen coming from a confidence boost by handing Celtic their first loss of the season, things are going in the right direction for them in the important battle of the European places. With no specific missings they will be fielding a strong team when they host Saint Johnstone (2-3-7 on the road).
At home, Aberdeen can give any scottish side a hard time. Celtic got to experience what it feels like to be worn down by the Abderdeen side and while it may have been a surprise, it is not that strange because Aberdeen have a 8-1-4 home record with only 9 goals allowed in 13 home games, so they are good at shutting down offensively hot teams. Saint Johnston do not belong to that category as they have only found the net 7 times in 12 road games and moreover have nothing special to play for since they are on a safe 6th position in the league with no room to climb any higher or be threatened with relegation. Sadly for the visitors, they will miss midfielder Murray Davidson (played 21 of 26 games) & regular defender Tam Scobbie (21 games as well) along with their most experienced defender Frazier Wright (19 games). The defensive knocks may be brutal for an already weak roster, and due to this - they signed Tim Clancy for the rest of the season out of desperation to cover up.
Aberdeen like to take command at their home field and when they get to do that - they are dangerous. These two teams actually met about 3 weeks ago where Aberdeen came up on top with 4-0. I expect the same outcome here, perhaps not with the same margins but in summary - if you beat Celtic, you will certainly take advantage of St.Johnstone who have limited defensive options. I predict the odds to drop closer to kickoff. Go Aberdeen!
BOL to all of you this weekend
