A personal favorite pick of mine, Academico Viseu is an attractive team in this league since their new coach took over and got his team going on fire with a 6-1-1 record ever since he got in charge of the group. They play a very attacking minded style, generating offense and this is the kind of teams that I like. To win a bet – you have to attack in order to score, and this is what Viseu stands for. They’re an intimidating home team with their 10-1-5 home record that includes 8 victories in their last 10 home matches. As for injuries, they only miss central midfielder Joao Alves (19/2) so they still have a strong squad to their disposal with dangerous striker Cafu who has 10 goals in 24 appearances. However they get back their central defender Monteiro who is back from injury. Overall, Viseu is perhaps the most in-form team in Segunda Divisao and especially at home where they are very offensive minded, I always enjoy watching them.
Sporting B is the reserve team of Sporting Lisbon, however they have had a special week due to the international friendly break. As the first team of Sporting had several players gone on international duty, many of the Sporting B players were called up to train with the “A” squad and therefore the squad has pretty much been split into two parts for this past week. The reason why Sporting B have achieved some good results this season is due to the fact that they can loan players in from the ‘real’ Sporting Lisbon team that competes with the likes of Benfica, Porto etc in the highest tier, but against Viseu this won’t be the case. Important midfielder Wallyson (16/2) is out due to injury and they can not count on any extra help from the regular Sporting team to boost the team. Many changes were made in the past transfer window and the group is yet to find their chemistry due to the many new departures and arrivals of players. Despite winning versus Chaves in their last game, they were completely outplayed and it was a lucky win for those who saw it. Sporting have not had a good performance for a while now and I see Viseu as the superior team here, without a doubt. Wallyson is one of the most important players on the Sporting team and without him the team loses strength and a goal scoring threat, and Academico Viseu will dictate this I am certain, their coach is an offensive coach who does not tell his players to slow down. Therefore, at home with the nice record they possess, I feel they should beat Sporting B who have only managed one victory in their last 8 road games. _____________________________________________
Pacos Ferreira hired their 3rd coach of the season as they continue to sack coaches and get new ones to build momentum to get out of the relegation zone. Their squad is too good to be relegated, and their new coach got a great start on his job when Pacos defeated a strong Maritimo team at home with 3-1 in a “come from behind” victory. Pacos Ferreira may not enjoy their best season but they are traditionally considered one of the hard places to visit in Portugal even for the top teams in the country. Pacos are 4-0-1 in their last 5 home games, only losing to Benfica which is understandable. They looked very good last time at home when they defeated Maritimo and it looked like the new coach had given the whole team a lift of confidence which was reflected in the performance. They have no injury concerns and they have a full squad to choose from as they chase vital points
Gil Vicente are the opposing team here, in my opinion the worst team along with Belenenses and Olhanense in the league. They are 1-2-8 on the road, with 8:20 in goal differential and 10 straight road games without a victory. Their objective in this game will be to get away with a draw, as Pacos Ferreira will dictate and be close to the victory. Sadly for the visitors, their best player Joao Vilela (18/3) is injured, along with their experienced defender Danielsson (18/0). In other words, they miss their engine on the midfield, and will be sore defensively. With this in mind – I see Pacos Ferreira breaking the deadlock at some point during the game and then just control it to secure all the points. Home win feels good here.

Pogon - Cracovia: Pick: Pogon @ 1.85 (1 u)
I turn my sight to Poland for a while, random you may think, but the truth is that I have kept an eye on the eastern leagues for a long time in disguise. This time, I am ready to make a play. Pogon is a team on the upswing and they have a brilliant chance to keep going right now when they host Cracovia. Let’s stay with Pogon for a while. In 2014 they have gotten a great start with a good fluid offense that generates goals, for example when they trashed Lech Poznan at home with 5-1 and also beat a decent team in Lechia with 3-2. They are often involved in high scoring affairs now in 2014, so it would not be bad to play the over. However, I am not too keen on playing overs or unders, but Robak has been brilliant for Pogon and according to reports he will play tomorrow (top scorer in Poland) and Pogon are a strong home team, even they have drawn a lot of games this season, this was in 2013. They have gotten more air under their wings now and playing much better.
Against Cracovia though, they can take advantage of many things. Firstly, Cracovia are a poor defensive side. Secondly, they have lost their spark in 2014, with 3 straight losses against some questionable opponents, i.e a struggling Zawisa team. Anyway, this is not why I choose to play against them. The reason why Cracovia has lost their games in 2014 Is due to lack of offense, since they sold their best striker and entered 2014 without a “main striker”. This time it gets even worse when Nowak, Ntibazonkisa and Budzinski looks to miss the game (a trio that has combined 50% of the teams total goals). This immediately makes the team weak in the final third and I see them trying to defend the entire game, I would be surprised if they score, because Pogon have a match winner in Robak who likely will move abroad after the season due to being the best striker in Polish League at this point. Over 90 minutes, I see Pogon winning this game whether the points come easy or hard.

1 of 3 today which sums the day up with -1.3 units and the weekend was a little cruel this time around but not awful. Let's try to bounce back during the week and take revenge next time around.
Viseu did their job exceptionally and 1-0 did not reflect the game, should have been 3-0 at least.
Pogon dominated completely but Cracovia came to "park the bus" and got away with a point after a sleeping pill of a game to be watching.
Ferreira had more chances but ineffective when getting in the penalty area, Gil Vicente took advantage of what they got and won perhaps a bit undeservedly. Ferreiras red card surely did not help either.
Oh well, apologies for today and the questionable weekend overall.
Now - I need to get back to work :)
