Tottenham

Spurs +110: Despite blowing some leads of late, Tottenham is still dominating long stretches of games and I think they get it right tomorrow against a Newcastle team that is clearly going on fumes due to injuries, suspensions and a hectic schedule. Newcastle basically running out the the same starting 11 every game and now of course they are without their fine No. 1 goalkeeper Mark Pope due to injury. Not only are they thin and very young on the bench, they're playing 17 year old Lewis Miley regularly in the midfield. Miley has acquitted himself quite well but I doubt in his wildest dreams he expected to play THIS much. Newcastle has only won one game on the road in the league this season and it doesn't get any better tomorrow at Spurs. Spurs got some major injury problems of their own but they bring a lot more to the table than the Magpies right now and they will not want to let another home game slip away.

Really going back and forth on this Everton-Chelsea game. As a Blues diehard, my heart says to play them again against a Chelsea team that has been wildly inconsistent this season. But reality suggests Everton probably isn't going to win a third straight game and Chelsea SHOULD bounce back with an effort after a dismal loss at Man United in midweek. Everton played on Thursday so Chelsea comes in with an extra day of rest and preparation. Chelsea without doubt has more quality and depth on paper, but Everton are definitely more organized and stouter defensively. Everton should get a big lift with the return of midfield standout James Garner but hard to say if he is 100 per cent after missing the 3-0 win over Newcastle due to a flu. I will only say to be careful betting this game. Chelsea is right near the top of the league in expected goals scored, and their fortune could come good at any time. They are also very suspect defensively, so if anything playing the over might be a consideration. But I am not playing a side on this one, though I will say I will be getting up at 6 a.m. out here on the left coast to watch it.

Guess I should have had more faith in the lads. Can't believe the run they're on for a team that really doesn't have a lot of skill or pace. They defend well and stick to a system and work their asses off. So proud of them right now.
