England got a good result in the first game against France, a draw against their more fancied opponents leaves England in a great position in this group and a win against Sweden and Ukraine could well lead to England topping the group. All the experts are saying Hodgson will drop Oxlade Champberlain to the bench and play Andy Carroll up front with Danny Wellbeck. It could be a tactic used to exploit a supposed weakness in Sweden's aerial abilities. Personally I think with Mellberg and an aging defence pace will be what hurts this swedish team more than an aerial bombardment. With Young on the wing and Wellbeck up top I think England have enough in this side to really cause Sweden alot of problems.
Sweden under Eric Hamren have been difficult to beat and in Ibrahimovich they have a game changer. Zlatan played excellently against the Ukraine but he missed a couple of simple chances that would normally have been in the net for a player of his quality. He did score the goal and presented a problem for the Ukraine for the entire game but he will face a much tougher defence in England. Terry and Lescott will not afford him as much room and it will be interesting to see if Zlatan can bring Rosenberg and later Elmander into the game as he did against the Ukraine. The Swedes will need more from their wingers if they are to cause England real problems, especially Seb Larsson who on his day gives a terrific delivery from open play and set pieces.
Overall I think England will have too much for Sweden. I expect this game to be a battle and I'm sure there will be chances for both sides but I think given the pace on England's wings and up front and the solid defence they have that the English will just come out on the right side of a tight game. But, on the other hand, I think that england may be a bit overrated, as they are in all major international competitions. I also watched the game against france and france dominated them with possession.
I have to go with the safer pick here.
