i really don't like VAR, you can't celebrate a goal anymore and then goals are taken off for what I think are incidental challenges, i'm all for goalline technology but this is turning the beautiful game into throwball.

Was that Athleti goal overturned for a foul that the referee missed? That's just silly.
I do like getting a PK for the jersey pull though - that is way out of hand in the game, imo, along with the pushing and grabbing by defenders in open play, but that's a much smaller problem.
Overall, I agree with you B - they've gone way overboard with this. Somethings (like in amfoot) shouldn't be reviewable.

another example is now if a player's toe or arm is offside, the player is deemed automatically offside, the attacking player used to be given the "advantage" and benefit of doubt, it pains me now to see a goal chalked off for this now.

ystday? its never easy with us, and im saddened to tell you Ive become used to it. have some time here....now for the 'FUN' stuff.

VAR saved our a** yesterday fellas. but ive also won quite a few plays this year resulting from its decisions. one thing I appreciate this time Boll is finally someone has mentioned VAR as it should, without and perceived 'agenda' involving monetary involvement).
i kind of consider self "old school"; back in the days where if you were standing in the penalty area and the ball hit your arm.... it was a PK. no ands, ifs, ors, nors about it. saw Schalkes first PK ystday, my god that took a LONG time to decide. we were sitting there and saying "whats so hard about that decision, it freaking hit Citys arm". plain and simple. dang.. times are changing arent they??
but wanted to add something which Loose alluded to, there was this match a few weeks back (for the life of me i cant rememeber which one) defender made a pass out from his own end, opponent stepped in got half the ball/half the MF leg, dribbled 10-15 yds, pass to teammate cutting, and a beautiful goal. key point is this whole sequence happened 10 feet in front of refs clear/unobstructed view. and he let the play go on. but then someone upstairs yakking away into his earpiece, he wasnt reviewing the goal -- whether the pass was offsides or not, no handball... nothing. the discussion revolved around whether there was a foul on the turnover which the ONFIELD ref let play go on. so Loose, i agree with you there (finally ehhh??!) this is where we start heading down that slippery slope of things with VAR.
one other thing Id like to add (sorry Boll for the length, you know me anyways)
I dont know how many opportunities you guys get to go to the games or what the televisions show out there but but theres one thing about those earpieces. the onfield ref is constantly talking during match. I dont think its right to have someone yakking in ur ear the entire game. those guys got a job to do, and game to call/manage. communications should be limited. those guys arent "perfect", its a HARD job, and I give them a long leash so to speak. its easy for us all to sit there on our chairs and critique blown calls, im not sitting here on some high-horse and saying I dont do the same. but there should not even be discussions between him & booth on such matters.
but look at the BRIGHT SIDE of VAR fellas. if theres one POSITIVE thing about it:......................
.................it has allowed people the opportunity to empty the bladder. if you time it right, you can make a quick run and get back before play resumes (trust me on this one). couldnt do that 10 years ago.

anyway, to address your points and I may be at a disadvantage here, i lost beinsport over the summer and so haven't been watching any serie a/la liga and VAR wont be in the EPL til next year .
So I haven't see the full extent of VAR week to week , in the world cup it was VAR light and only brought out for MAJOR incidents, not the case in the CL. The bringing back play because of a foul in the buildup is nuts, how far back do u go, its a flowing game, and there will always be 50/50 tackles.
Handball in the penalty area is called differently in different leagues, harsher in spain, less so in england for example, that will always be contentious so can't blame VAR there.
I do 5 things at once at my place of employment spec so refs can damn well multi task!
And as for a break in the action, its a 90 min game played in under 100 mins, remember throwball has 17 minutes of action and takes 3 hours+ to play it, whats funny for me is the new AAF shortened the play clock and the premise was the game would last 2 1/2 hours, no, still clocks out at 3.
