Based on tradition... and according to this picture graph below.. it looks like the odds are in favor of Germany to win the World Cup this year. What do you think...Coincidence or they really have a chance?

In the history of the World Cup, Western European teams have never won 2 straight. Since Italy won the last one, Hello Uruguay.

And in other news, ever since an initial Group Stage of matches was introduced (1950) - thereby radically increasing the amount of games the eventual winner had to play - no nation who hosted the previous World Cup has ever gone on to win the subsequent World Cup played (in fact, out of 14 such chances, only 1 previous host nation has ever made the Final: Italy hosted in 1990 and made the final in 1994, but of course lost that Final to Brazil)

Since Germany hosted the 2006 World Cup, well, better luck in 2014, Deutschland.

so you're telling me Spain all the way...

personally I'd like to see Netherlands win...but it would be humorous to see Germany actually win it with how they've battled injuries and such...also beating an early favorite Argentina and soon to be Spain if this carries out.

hey folks, forget about your statistics, best capper in german soccer world will tell you what to do.

go for google and look for paul the octopus

this is a nice 8 armed crature in sealife underwater zoo in oberhausen germany

1 or 2 days before game time they put 2 glass boxes with food in the water each of them with one flag at the front - one for germany and one for the opponent

the box he takes out the food is his official bet :)

his record so far:   5 - 0 - 0 with even the loss vs serbia

have fun, there are even some videos

will make my bet after feeding and if with spain, stay off :) :)

hmm although im from germany we arent gonna win it, spain is just too good 2008 they were +137 to +265 favs in the final. this time its almost even while the spaniards do have david villa (he was injured last time). Value is on Spain so im sticking with Spain.

anything can happen...   last two games Spain has scored 1 goal in each... last two games for Germany..they have scored 4 goals in each.

Was Spains offense not as good or did they play vs better defensive teams and vice versa for Germany.

Spain will beat Germany. Winning the European Championship has made the Spanish a team of winners. They have the experience in these big matches - the German players do not. The Germans do have energy and youth but I will go for the experienced winners from Spain.

When have I said Spain are winners?

Spain, however, after winning Euro 2008 have a winning mentality, regardless of what happens in the past century and whether you like it or not. Just look at how we won our matches thus far, just like Italy won their matches in 2006.

Germany, on the other hand, is a team that loses a WC Semifinal in their stadium, with 1 minute of injury time left.

I just found a statement like that funny, coming from a guy whose national team has been the epitome of chokers/losers for an eternity. Yeah, we lost that semifinal at home, so what? If your statement is based on that single game then you're completely off the track. You should actually know from your teams' experiences how hard it is to make it that far in these tournaments on a regular basis like Germany has been doing it for decades now, with some exceptions of course, so calling them chokers or a bunch of losers isn't appropriate and also not even close to the truth. If that's the standard to judge a team then I don't see any winners, because any team will choke/lose sooner or later. It's just not that easy to win a World Cup.

Be sure, I have no problem with Spain's winning mentality. I'm the first one to admit that they probably have been the best team in the world for the last two/three years and to be honest, I can hardly see the Netherlands stop them.

Spain was the superior team today, no doubt about it, so congrats to you and I wish you that your team will keep that winning mentality.
