Apparently at some point in my Wagerline career the fine folks at Wagerline made a subtle rule change, probably under cover of nightness, much like the Irsays' move to Indianapolis.
As the rule now reads, "You must make a selection on a game played within 7 days of your previous selection or your score will be reset to zero."
This of course has changed from their old rule of "you must make a selection within 7 days of your previous selection or your score will be reset to zero."
So, my advice:
1. Read the goddamn rules twice daily during your streak in case they suddenly change, and/or
2. Find something better to do for fun.

Attention folks at Wagerline, you may want to clear this up:
"NOTE: You are limited to one pick per day. Your pick may not be edited. If you fail to make a pick in 7 days, your score is reset to 0. "
It doesn't say "if you fail to make a pick on a game that occurs within seven days of your last correct pick, your score will be reset to 0."
I realize this is a free contest, but when you're outright lied to on the "Status" page, you still feel royally jobbed.
Do us a favor and clean that up. Pretty bush league.
And when you decide to change the rules next time, let us know??

Boy, both of you guys need to backoff. Rules are rules and if you can't understand them, then ask the question BEFORE you make a mistake not after. I have been with wagerline for over five years and haven't had a problem.||an_violin.gif' border=0>

I knew it wouldn't take long for the Wagerline shills to come out...although I've been called many things, but not schizophrenic. Neither of us have been.
I understand perfectly "<b>If you fail to make a pick in 7 days, your score is reset to 0.</b>" There's nothing to ask. My pick was made in 7 days.
I also understand that when it comes to free sites on the Internet, you get what you pay for.
I'm just asking Wagerline to clean up some garbage on their Status page so it doesn't happen to someone else. It's lazy and irresponsible.
Congratulations on your five problem-free years...you obviously have more time on your hands than I do to constantly re-read the ever-changing rules.

Most Recent Pick: Congratulations on your winning pick!
You must now make a pick on a game by 1/28/2007. Good Luck!
That's two different places we're lied to. Good job.

Zig thats a tough one, but when did you make the Bears selection? If you made the selection today you missed the deadline as this is the 8th day from your last selection.
If you made the selection previous to 11:59 PM saturday then I agree with you, you got jobbed.

I made the pick Friday night...(after much careful deliberation, haha!!)
This will be the last post I make on the subject because I come off sounding like a whiner, at least to militarystrikeforce, that beacon of all that's right in the world...the rules clearly state (now) that you have to make a pick on a game that occurs within 7 days of your last pick. So, and I emphasize, I f'ed up.
For those of you who are Newbies to the game, this was not always the rule. The old rule was you simply had to make a pick within 7 days. So, for example, you could pick the Super Bowl now if you wanted-- just as long as you are currently within 7 days of your last pick.
My beefs are these:
1. That subtle rule change was never communicated. Still, my fault, (I'm not a mind reader) but when I signed on five years ago, I read the rules INSIDE OUT AND BACKWARDS. Then they changed the rules without telling anyone. Totally within their rights and also totally bush league, but not altogether surprising. Again, you get what you pay for.
Hence my admonition to anyone (rookie or veteran) who sniffs the $100k that they read and re-read the rules for any bullshit lawyer gibberish or a sudden change in the rules that could disqualify them. (Remember the guy who had 18 going, then all sports were cancelled for over a week after 9/11, and they cancelled his streak as well... also classy) Something like that could happen to you.
2. Two different places on the site say things entirely contrary to the "official" rules. I'll re-post them here:
After my Bears pick today: Most Recent Pick: Congratulations on your winning pick!
You must now make a pick on a game by 1/28/2007. Good Luck!
Totally false. You have to make a pick on a game that occurs by 1/28 to keep going, as I have found out.
When you go to make a pick: "NOTE: You are limited to one pick per day. Your pick may not be edited. If you fail to make a pick in 7 days, your score is reset to 0. "
Again, totally false. I made a pick within 7 days (Saturday to Friday) and they still reset it.
Look, I'm probably gone from the site anyway, (who cares) and I'm not looking for any sympathy. This is just a warning to everyone else who may get jobbed, and a plea that Wagerline clean up its damn act. All you righteous folks who can't believe someone would complain over a free contest be damned and put away your violin emoticons. Also, those who make a Survivor pick every damn day of your lives probably will not be affected.
In the end, my only regret is that I had referred this site to a couple of other people. I don't play with real money because I don't believe in it, just play for fun, which is why I was originally attracted to this site. But after putting up with all this shadiness, it's not worth my time.
You guys can keep my hat!!

You didn't delay your pick to gain an advantage, it was an honest, harmless, questionable, mistake based on some very controversial wording of the rules.
If it were me running the site I'd continue the streak and post your grievance as a sticky so no one else would make the same mistake.
Agreed that Wagerline needs to absolutely change the wording on the daily reminders from You must make a pick on a game within 7 days to You must pick a game that occurs within 7 days
Maybe wagerline will make a 1 time friendly exception to this rule.
