The only person ever to reach 21 in a row was Claudio. At the time, the payoff was just 10 grand. So, Wagerline has never payed the 100 grand prize for the first time yet. I think that once Sully got to 19, and prior, when Patrick got to 20, they placed a sizeable wager with a reputable casino, with the pick they had intended to be their next pick with Wagerline. It is a simple theory of guaranteeing a profit. In the case of MSully, if I had hit 19 straight, I would have laid a wager of 20K with a Vegas Casino, and if it lost, then something close to a double up while sitting at 20 straight with Wagerline. In the case of David Patrick, who went to 20 straight, I would have laid 30K with a Vegas casino with my next pick, and used Wagerline as insurance in case the pick lost. I have a feeling that this is what actually took place with these two guys.

Shanghai, I agree that the users who reach the higher levels of the Survivor contest are doing themselves a disservice if they do not begin to hedge their bets. But then again some people just love the action and will I would not be surprised if David Patrick risked it all to win the $100 000.

shanghai the hedge you mentioned after 19 wins does not make any logical sense since he could win or lose his real money wager the same way he could any other day of the year but since he wins nothing for getting to 20 in survivor he would not be hedging against anything . not at 20 wins a large hedge bet makes nothing but sense. im not sure what amount i would hedge but id certainly like to have the option some day.||Peace_5.gif' border=0>

Who the hell has an extra 20 grand to throw in an oversea book to hedge a bet? And if they did the way things are going today what if the book decided not to pay you? Now your down over 20 instead of winning anything. Im sure these guys hedged some but to think guys have 50 thousand around just to hedge and have the risk of losing that to is silly. Now lets see im gonna be one win away and quickly fly to vegas with i guess a cashiers check and now dump it at a casino i hope will take the whole twenty plus im hoping the line is the same so i don't get middled and lose everything. Cmon guys wake up.

Thor he did,
My father saw it on another site and I don't think he needed to lie. It really doesn't matter. D.P. losing or winning money didn't effect anyone else. ||an_speak.gif' border=0>

I can pretty much guarantee that David Patrick hedged. At 20 wins, he could buy a round trip to Vegas for no more than $500 on short notice, place a bet with a sportsbook there, and pick the other side on Wagerline. The 100K Wagerline payout, after taxes, would still net him 65-70 grand, based on how the taxes are handled where he lives. If I would be in that position, I would fly to Vegas, lay 30K, and pick the opposite with Wagerline. Since they are supposedly backed by BoDog, he would have been paid had he hit #21. Had #21 lost, then he walks out of Vegas with 30K.
