today i was discussing sports and gambling with my buddy at work. I then brought up systems and started talking about the labouchere system. if you do not know what that is here is a link so i dont have explain it all on here. https://www.ildado.com/labouchere_system.html While doing the system you have to win at a 34% rate or better to make money over the long run. but i had this crazy idea about making an alteration to this system that i think will make it better. in the normal labouchere system you take the first and last numbers and that is what your bet is. but what if you increase the number of numbers that you play. for example if my line is 5-5-5-5-5 im suppose to bet 10, but what if i used the first number, the last number, and the middle number... now my bet would be 15 but by using 3 numbers i now only have to win more than 26% of the time to make a profit over the long run. i would only have to hit on 1 in 4 bets to keep my line at 5 numbers. if i lost i would then use the first, last and one of the two middle numbers for my next bet. now i know that the betting amount would increase a little each bet from the normal labouchere system... but if my whole starting line equals only 0.5% of my bank roll it would take a seriously long loosing streak to go broke. i also was thinking of extending the number of the numbers i use to 5, so my first bet would be 25.... then i would only have to hit 1 in 6 bets to keep my line at 5 numbers. well i think tomorrow im going to try this new thought (or what to me is a new thought, couldn't find anything in the internet). any input/criticism/questions would be welcome and appreciated. thnaks

Hello to everyone,

Hard to say- I am going to crunch the numbers, but its hard to trust this when your percentages are off. In a normal labouchere system, the winning percentage is actually 42%, not 34%, a severe miscalculation, considering that only under certain circumstances does 42% even yield a profit. In certain patterns it can profit, but if the long term results yield 42%, you still may suffer minimal loses to recoup your numbers. Clearing a labouchere line does not always yield a profit.
Not trying to be a d!ck- just pointing it out.
