Question

Is it possible to predict the outcome of MLB games with sabermetrics? Some say it is possible to predict it on a daily basis, some only use it for season totals for the upcoming season.

id like to know if anyone here knows how sabermetrics works ive been looking at articles but i havent been able to find anything for noobs to kinda help me start at ground level.

With sabermatrics it is possible to calculate almost anything :) i use it to estimate pitchers value for over/under bets. To start with saber you need to read a few books I suggest: Understanding Sabermetrics: An Introduction to the Science of Baseball Statistic to begin, then you choose your area of interst. It helps if you have any advance knowledge about statistics, math etc.

jerry18, excellent commentary &#xD;&#xA;may I add, and highly recommend reading the work of Bill James, and Tom Tango, both are sabermetricians for MLB teams (Seattle Mariners/Boston RedSox) the &#x27;key&#x27; is to connect sabermetric stats to MLB handicapping formulas, aka: Base_Runs | Runs_Earned...just to mention two of many.

thank you guys for your input! i have been reading about bill james and i was thinking about buying his book for this upcoming season but i didn't want to jump into that before i understood the basics of Sabermetrics. ill definitely have to check out that book jerry.

@sports_network I've been handing capping baseball the last 2 seasons off of reverse line movement and id only bet on favorites of less than -140 and mainly bet only on dogs. I think that is the only reason I've been able to survive so far in my baseball betting endeavor. but lately researching this topic of Sabermetrics i feel like this is the superior way to bet on the MLB.
