I have created a system of handicapping NBA games that is still in its pre-release form, and I'll let you know when it's completed.
Nevertheless, I can still now share query analysis of the information upon which the system is based.
The query analysis is based on my access to a large data base of NBA boxscore information that contains team summary statistics for every regular season game since October 2005.
I don't have individual player stats, and I don't have team assists and steals, but I have just about everything else including a chess Elo system power ranking of every team in multiple team categories for every game, which I've found to be a very effective prognostication tool.
This information is stored on an IBM computer of the midrange class that recently performed on the TV show "Jeopardy".
I can thus access the information quickly and seven ways from Sunday to produce just about whatever curiosity analysis that might interest you -- all you need do is ask me in a PM .. and all I need to do is take the time to create your query.
So if you have ever wondered about certain statistical causes and effects, just PM me with your question, I'll query the system, and I'll post the results here in the Systems forum, a separate topic for each question answered.
I will tell you this, that predicting the straight up can be statistically based, but predicting the spread is greatly about determining team energy at the onset of the game, and even then the in-game ebb and flow of that energy can produce suprising results. That being said, I am formulating some ideas about predicting game-onset energy at this point in the season, which I'll offer freely once I'm first sure they are of value.
Since I will be busy trying to handicap games myself, I won't be available to respond instantly, likely allowing for a 24-hour turnaround on query answers.
Hopefully you'll find my information to be of money-making or at least curiosity value. But again, beware: irrelevant statistics can be misleading red herrings. So the more carefully crafted the query, the more value it's likely to be.
I, of course, don't charge for this information service, and I presently have access to this information only Monday through Friday.
I could, however, soon lose access to this data base .. so, for as long as I have access to this information, I want to share it, as my time allows.
There are circumstances which will keep me from losing access to this data base, but it will require that people help me in this regard simply by communicating information for me. Indeed, success in this communicating endeavor might allow me to expand access to this database to include weekends too.
So just PM me, and I'll explain it all .. and hopefully the information to which I presently have access will be of value to you.
Good Luck,
Wisevoice
