I have a 30 GB. My first one from jan '07. The screen is goofy and about a third of it is 'black'.
When that happened, I bought the 80 last Summer, and have the 100 gb one.
Anyway, this morning, my silly reckless with toys girlfriend went out of town and couldn't understand why I wouldn't let her take one of my two big ones. No explanation needed, since I don't have an extra ac charger for her to take, she can't take my Bose speaker cradle, and most importantly.....I couldn't take the risk of her trying to charge it one someone elses computer and erase all of my stuff on it. Hell, she might bring it back with all Menudo Brothers music on it.........lol but I'm barely kidding...
Thus, I need my little 30 GB fixed.........
More importantly, I had to gut the computer that had all of my I-Pods' music stored in itunes , and I need to somehow put my Pod's stuff back in the computer , which as most know, is backwards from how Apple wants people to do things. Probably because people would just be passing ipods back and forth and they'd lose potential itunes revenue.
Also, all of my limewire downloads are in my computer somewhere, but I can't pull that site back up where they are hiding.. I know that all that music is there, because I can see it all as I defrag....
Some of these issues might have to go to someone around here that isn't Apple, but just curious if anyone has ever gone to the apple store for assistance other than just buying stuff like has been my only experience.......
Thanks for any feedback of your experiences.....
(just realized how long this post was.... lol )

I am not an Apple guy, in fact I try to stay away from them as much as possible. But from what I hear the Apple stores are pretty good on the Ipod issues. Is it still covered repair wise?
As long as the hard drive is ok you can get the music off of it. Just install it into another computer or get one of those hard drive enclosures and make it into a USB drive.
Get back with me here and I will post a program that will......
Hee.hee..hee.....
Rip that Ipod music right of the heart of the hard drive where you can use it again.
