in fact, what was the last major personal computing advacne and who was it made by (no crazy shit that is largely vaporware please, e.g holographic data storage, etc)???
Personally I think the biggest thing now is the solid state HD's. Just need to get the price down on them. That is huge, now instead of the weakest link being the HD we are looking at the PS's.
Actually tech breakthrough I believe it's they are still making CPU's smaller and faster. Everytime they come close to hitting a wall they have another breakthrough.
Personally I think some of these hardware vaporwares are being used by the military.

You mean the same as was said about Flash drives that wasn't true. Huge difference between trying to destroy them in the lab and real world use.
Also you use SSD's right mainly now just for storing the OS for speed and a regular HD for storage. But that will change in a couple more years. We are still doing the SSD's in upper end custom builds.
Say i7's and such. Well a couple of i'5 for a business that just placed a 20x order last week.
Mainstream stuff, yeah.......I think it's more for promotional stuff to just get ink. But I really would like to know about where some of the stuff went to. Think a few branches snapped up some of the stuff.
