You need a booster. Radio Shack has these or maybe even Wal Mart. The cable plus into the input side and you can get a couple of coax cables for the outputs. Just run one to your tv and one to your cable modem.

You dont need a booster. They are helpful but in this case its not necessary.
what you need is a 1000mhz spiltter which is designed for this.
Also you need to make sure the fittings are crimped properly with a crimper tool on the line going to the cable modem. Fittings that arent crimped right can cause loss of signal to the cable modem.
On last thing, when you say you have one line coming into your bedroom, does this mean that the line comes directly from the pole to your house into your bedroom? Because if not this is your problem.
With cable modems, the first spilt in the line has to go to your cable modem.
In other words. When the line from the pole hits your house and comes inside, thats where you put a 2 way spillter. Now from the 2 way spiltter, one line goes directly to the cable modem and the other line goes into another spiltter, either a 2 way, 3 way, 4 way from that spiltter you run lines to the tv.
Just remember the first spilt in the line has to be to the modem.
Hope this helps
