I have the standard Linksys Wap54G Router. I can't keep the damn thing from losing a signal every 30min or so.
I'm sitting literally about 30 feet from it, and it shows full green bars on my wireless network screen. What am I doing wrong?
About every 1/2 hour, I lose my signal, and have to disconnect from the network, then reconnect to it manually. It is password protected, so it's not like my neighbor's stealing my juice. Is there a setting I need to change, or something else that I am unaware of?

You are doing nothing wrong, take the sucker back if you haven't had it that long. If you have had it a bit longer call Linksys.....(Get a few of your favorite frosty beverages and a speaker phone) Go through the BS troubleshooting with them and get them to send you a replacement.

Maybe I'll give these bitches a call tomorrow, and see what I can get done. Can't be much worse than the shit I had to go through with HP on a daily basis.
Solution - the whole SN is CDFG1G5P7573 . See what you can do with it.

Yes you can upgrade the firmware, that's one of the first things that Linksys will get you to do, but bottom line it's intermittent, We have had a firmware upgrade that has worked like one time out of over 23 years in my shop that Gateway's (that's what they were called 23 years ago) have been around. Of couse there were multi-protocol Gateway's/routers then.

Well there is good news and bad news, the good news is that based off your serial number that is the latest and greatest in the WRT54G line (version 8) so it definitely should still be under warranty although your best bet would be still having the receipt, a store with a generous return policy and stepping up to the WRT54GL which can be easily flashed with free 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT that will alleviate many of the problems like dropped connections that occur with the Linksys out of the box firmware.
The bad news is the latest and greatest in the WRT54G model line is actually an example cost cutting by Linksys selling you a downgraded system with the guts stripped out of it compared to earlier versions of the same router. It is no longer 3rd party firmware upgradable like earlier versions of this router and troubleshooting a problem such as yours is often alot of trial and error tinkering with the stock firmware and your laptop's wireless settings.

I was in the process of going through the DD-WRT process, and it seems like it'll be too much trouble going through all the steps, and configuring the shit myself.
It's not that big of a deal that I have to refresh the connection every once in a while, just a little bothersome when the woman is trying to watch RedTube, and if freezes on her.
Using RoadRunner Lite wouldn't be causing this would it?
Thanks for taking the time guys.

Naw, that wouldn't be causing it. If you can take it back to the store though I would go ahead and do it. In all of the cases I've seen with this, it slowly gets worse and worse.
