Is it a problem with wifi? Can Wifi be "infected"
If so, what solution should I give the owners of the place I am staying to purge the system

Yes, you are playing with fire there. Someone on the network is infected and spreading it around.
It could be any computer hooking into the wi-fi.
Use your aircard or it will keep happening.
If it is the owners computer then just get to install some up to date antivurus and get them to go to www.malwarebytes.com and install thier latest download.

Turn off your system restore , yes I know you might not want to do this. Do a virus and malwarebytes scan in safe mode. Don't forget to reactivate your system restore.
