Finally decided to retire the old PS2 and get a new system for Christmas. I know a little bit about the X-Box360 since I know people with them already but can anyone tell me the difference between that and the PS3 or Nintendo Wii? I actually heard the Wii was the better system but the games on there that would be good are only the RPG (as usual with Nintendo)
Thanks in advance for the help.

It's really an PS3 Vs. X-Box thing. The Wii is for a completely different audience. (Kids and gamers from the the 80's maybe early 90's.
IMO it really is a toss up with the PS and Box. The PS is a bit more expensive than the 360, but with all of the add ons for the X-Box it would be about the same price. The key or depending who you ask....Catch with the PS3 is the Blue-Ray DVD player in the unit. This is what is driving the cost of the hardware up so much. It's a very expensive and too early to tell....maybe won't catch on. There is some blue-ray movies out now, but there isn't many. I'm not really sure the standard is going to catch on. It's driven by Sony, so that's why they put it in the unit.

if your looking for gaming and reliability get a 360 they been out for a year now and have the kinks out and more games. Gears of war its an awsome game and the graphics are sweet. The wii is pretty cool too its alot of fun playing because you move the controler like if you want swing a bat you actually swing like you would a bat plus its cheap. And its nintendo so you know there going to have good games. For myself I picked up a 360 and a Wii for what a PS3 would just about cost.Sure am getting a PS3 but I will wait untill they have all the kinks worked out and when you can actually get your hands on one.To break it all down it doesnt matter what system you get your going to have a good time playing it.I find there a good way to get your mind off a bad day of gambling and relieving all that stress

Played the Wii. It was a blast. And to sit around bored with a buddy it would easily be the best thing to play - You get some sports games with it, golf (you really swing), boxing (you box) and bowling was awesome,
but it can't just be the Wii (very cartooney) . . .
You'd need something else, either the PS3 or 360.
360 and a Wii would rock.
If I had to choose just one, it would be the 360. No hesitation. The games coming out for it will rock.
Microsoft won't let Sony smoke it.

lippsman, ..OT.., and actionjackson3... Thanks for the feeback fellas
The reason I asked was because I used to be a hardcore gamer but I've been real busy the past 2 years and I havent really had as much time to get on the game but now that things are starting to even out I decided to get a new system or systems...
I wanted the PS3 mainly because of Metal Gear Solid 4...
I've always been a fan of Mario and Zelda so the Wii was interesting... I didnt know that it let you intereact with the sports games that sounds tight.
As far as the Xbox... I wasnt a fan of the original (because of the controller) but a lot of people I know who've had an XBox and Playstation say the XBox is way better so its a lot to think about.
Probably will go with the XBox... I'm just like you OT, Im not buying a PS3 at that price, especially with it being fairly new, I'd want to know if all of the kinks were out first.
I'll look into the Wii a little more. Anyone of you suggest a website I should look at other than IGN or the company's main site.
Thanks again for the help.

if u want somethin for christmas, its either an xbox or wii. ps3 is almost impossible to find, and at this point it isnt worth the price u are going to pay.
from what ive heard, wii is a blast to play. the graphics arent up to par with 360 or ps3, but the wii is all about gameplay. the motion sensor controller gives u more of an interactive experience.
xbox360 has the best games available right now, and is easy to get.

i already own a xbox360 and i really wanted a wii. i figured a ps3 would be too hard to get til way after new years.
ive tried like 4 times to get a wii, all to no avail. last nite im hanging out with my buddy, and he gets a call that the ps3 he was put on the waiting list for at the sony store was available. he didnt have enuff cash, so he asked me if i wanted it. we went to the mall and i got myself a ps3. im in absolute shock that i was able to get one quicker than a wii, and much faster than my xbox360, which ididnt get til 4 months after release.

Was walking though Target with my wife after dinner Friday night........yeah I know fucking exciting, and I could not believe that they actually had 4 PS3's on the shelf. So, of course I whip out the American Express and drop when it's all over about a grand on the 60GB unit 4 games and the HDMI cable.
By far worth the money! The gaming is amazing.........words can't describe how fantastic the graphics and sound is through my surround. The only thing I would suggest is if you do not own an HDTV, then don't even bother.......the sound and graphics when connected with an HDMI cable are beyond words.......
Tiger Woods Golf..
Madden 07
NBA
even the Tony Hawk game I bought for my daughter.......
PS3...

Tony, I also love the Tiger Woods Golf. The graphics and gameplay are amazing. I love the crowds that are lined up and down the course. Two of my buddies have already beaten Fall Of Man and they say the game is awesome.
I love it too....

tonyturf, D-Town...I agree with you guys. The only game I have so far is Tiger Woods 07 and it is sick. It looked ok on the TV I had, but I didn't have and HDTV. Naturally I went out last weekend and bought a 50" HDTV and a HDMI cable to hook up the PS3. What an unbelieveable picture!! I have never seen anything like it in the video game world. Not to metion, I get to watch the Super Bowl in HD!!
