Moniter on laptop finally went black after having developed 3 dozen vertical lines. Computer starts up just fine but no screen. (just black)

Question is I have only one item on the HD an desktop I'd like to remove, "My Pictures."

Is this a complicated process without a screen or is it something to be shipped to Mr. Lippsman and have him tangle with the machine?

do you have a desktop as well? If so, follow THIS and you can hook up your monitor to your laptop and go from there

Thanks a lot yuice. I have a new Toshiba lp-500 lap right in front of the blacked out old Toshiba. Hopefully it works. Give it a try tomorrow.

...not a desktop 'a course btw but there may be a chance with 2 laps.

I had a Dell. Developed several dozen vert lines as well. Than the monitor went completely black. I hooked up a second monitor and it worked very well. THEN the computer completely died. That's when I realized I wanted shit off the hard drive. My brother and I had to smash my laptop, find the harddrive, hook it up to something he had and transfer the files to a new computer. It was a disaster but worked out.

you could have just unscrewed the HD from the machine instead of smashing it.
