Got this message for the 3rd time today in two weeks. Although I'm able to boot up with last known good settings, I can see by some research that my HD is about to fail. I'm going to order a Seagate 120g (5400rpm) from Newegg for $62. This will replace the 40g oem in my Dell Lat. It's an ATA-6 so my options are limited but it should be more than sufficient for my needs.
Any advice/suggestions for saving/transferring existing data from my current HD? I see these external HD housings + software allow for copying/ghosting HD's..............fairly simple?
Thanks......

Yeah, pretty straightforward. It will ghost your drive and you shouldn't miss a beat. We use Norton Ghost and use it in DOS mode. That way we are sure everything is as it should be. I'm not a fan of ghosting in Windows mode.
