I'm sure Murray was supremely focused for this 500 tuneup before the 2 Masters tuneups before the US Open. These events are a joke. I dont know why the very top players even bother entering. I watched a little of Nish-Suckworth last nite. Nish was out there playing like he truly didnt give a damn what happened. He only scraped by because Suckworth donated about 15 free points to him late in the match.

These tournaments should have alarm bells ringing. The sweet spot is to get on players who can have a nice draw, maybe an upset to contend for the title. People like Dolgopolov, Sock, Johnson, Isner. Not a coincidence the list is mostly Americans either.
It's definitely not a stupid tournament, but with two 1000s coming up you have to take a good look at top players schedules and past results at this tourney to pick it right.

No one besides Novak should be more than -1200 or so in these sort of lead in matches against an OK player before 2 Masters events before a major. Murray was like -3000 against a guy just outside the top 30? Thats silliness. Why would he care about this event?
We all know Murray would murder this guy in a major but in practice sessions the focus just isnt gonna be there.

It's very rare to beat a great player when u do try to either win tournament or go further u can't lose to a no name in straight sets that's pathetic it cheapen the win against Murray
