Michael Berrer - Andrey Rublev
Today Michael Berrer will face Andrey Rublev to play the second qualifiying round here in Indian Wells. Berrer is a player who plays his best tennis on fast surfaces like hardcourt indoor, grass or fast hard outdoor surfaces. However his performances here in Indian Wells have always been extremly good: Last year he made it through the qualifiying and won against Gasquet here before losing in the third round against Gilles Simon. He won his first round match against Eysseric in two streight sets showing slight problems at the beginning of the match but got better and better as the match went on and finally won in streight sets with solid stats. His opponent today will be Andrey Rublev. Rublev won his first challenger title only three days on hardcourt indoor in france where he won against Mathieu in the final. Rublev played 3x three set matches there and won 5-1 tiebreaks which was the reason for his success. He won after a 20 hour flight against weak Devvarman yesterday in a really taff three set match. Today I have to take a shot on Berrer in this spot: He has to defend a solid amount of points here in IW and likes this tournament, has good thoughts about it. Rublev had probably no time to recover however Devvarman is simply a weak player who does not even have challenger level at the moment. Today facing a much more challenging player who is able of playing extremly aggressive, taff tennis from the baseline, who has a good serve and who is really able of enjoying himself on the court. This match yesterday was clearly not good for Rublev as it was really long. I still do not think that he is recoverd from the trip and the jetlag. Min. odd @2.08
