His career renaissance at age 29 doesn't make much sense. In the last 6 months or so he's become a very dangerous player on the tour after an entire career of scuffling and underwhelming performances. I'm highly skeptical he's suddenly become a high level tennis player at this age without the *cough* aid of something a little extra.

He'd never been beyond the 2nd round of a Slam before this AO, reminds me of Zhang Shuai who had lost 14 straight 1st round Slam matches before last year's AO, when she made a run to the QF. No one said at the time that Zhang took steroids to exceed by a country mile her previous Slam efforts. Zhang beat Halep, Cornet & Keys on her way to the QF, 3 big scalps, she didn't get an easy draw by any stretch of the imagination. Sometimes it clicks for people as they mature: there is such a thing as late bloomers.

Just goes to show you that even the top guys can be beat if they are slightly off and their opponent pops up with a never been seen before performance.

We don't see these types of results on the men's side in a major. They don't happen. Darcis beating Nadal and Staks beating Fed - on grass. Are the only results that rival these. On grass you get the wacky results from time to time because of the nature of the surface. On hardcourt smith you don't.

Zverev is probably on adderrall or something. I've seen the guy played for like a decade. He magically has become a good tennis player nearing age 30. It's preposterous and doesn't happen organically.

Then you have bad memories. Mischa was a big hope for german tennis and he was a top 3 junior player. When he was 21 he was in top 50 then he recieved a left wrist injury (broken) and he had many minor injuries so he became nr. 1000 Then he started working hard and didnt give up.
He's top 50 now... He beat a shite Murray.

I only started following him prior to wimby 2015 when Alex swept an invincible djoko in two sets prior to wimbledon which added both of them to my radar. His resurgence has conincided with when Alex turned professional, possibly due to more motivation but also a key thing is it was around this time that the younger Zverev hired Murrays old fitness guru who works with both of them. He is a bit of a one trick pony against top players albeit very good at that trick. If he was on something it's more likely to be low levels of test or something to aid recovery that can be microdosed without detection.
