The 3-time defending champ was turned back at the border when he flew into Victoria Province today:

One day after receiving a medical exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine and getting cleared to play in the 2022 Australian Open, Novak Djokovic has been denied entry into the Land Down Under.
Per The Times of London, the No. 1 ranked player in the world was stopped at the border Wednesday over a visa mix-up. Djokovic’s team reportedly requested a visa that isn’t valid for people who are medically exempted from the COVID-19 vaccine. It is currently uncertain whether the 2021 champion will be able to defend in the Jan. 17-30 tournament in Melbourne.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison spoke to reporters in Canberra Wednesday and said that Djokovic will not receive preferential treatment, via The Guardian.
“If he is not vaccinated, he must provide acceptable proof that he cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons,” Morrison said. “If that evidence is insufficient, then he won’t be treated any different to anyone else and will be on the next plane home—there should be no special rules for Novak Djokovic.”

Now he is being held prisoner by the sound of things, I don't agree with how Australia is handling the situation, but Joker put him self in the situation he knew Australia's rules.
This is the elite thinking they are above everyone again

I'm not a Joker fan but you're right. The elite governments think they are above everyone and can tell them what to put in their bodies. Do this or you can't do that.

I was referring to Joker thinking he is bigger then a countries own government.
I do not agree with vaccine mandates, and they are completely wrong. But you can't go to another country and think you are above the laws they have in place

Is that even what he did tho? I thought he had a medical exemption that they denied. I don't think he just flew into the country thinking theyll just let him pass cause of who he is.

I’m guessing he got a wink wink nudge nudge “medical exemption” and from the sounds of it from people who were not authorized to do so (tennis executives and not actual doctors) because he’s Novak Djokovic, and he thought there’s no way they’ll hold a grand slam tournament without the world #1.
But that wasn’t the reason he was denied entry (at least not yet anyway)...he was denied entry because he (or his team) applied for the wrong visa for himself. The visa he had is one that is not valid for people with these so-called “medical exemptions”. So at the moment it seems like it is just somewhat of a clerical or paperwork error.
However if/when they are able to straighten out the proper paperwork, Djokovic is going to have his next problem of actually trying to prove that he is in fact eligible to receive a valid medical exemption which, as we know now, Australia isn’t fukking around and will require actual evidence and not just a doctor’s note saying he should be exempt because he said so. And which probably also seems highly unlikely because we all know Djokovic is fully healthy he’s just an anti-vaxxer who also doubles as the world’s most arrogant prick and thinks he can do whatever he wants.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out...I myself will be laughing my ass off when his favorite tournament carries on and he’s sitting at home. Personally I hope this guy stays stuck on 20 because of his own ignorance.

If the players had any balls they would all bail on Australian open and say it is bc the gov is suppressing the rights of the unvax. That would send a message, to the world. Australia is a police state along w Canada France and some others I’m forgetting

Really?? I know this is this the tennis forum but maybe look at the NHL. Small sample size (about 800 players) but still.
4 well documented cases where Covid has put players career in jeopardy...
Marco Rossi
Brandon Sutter
Alex Stalock
Josh Archibald
And I would venture a guess there’s a chance Jonathan Toews’ mystery illness “chronic fatigue” whatever it was that caused him to miss a year, could also be related.
Marco Rossi has returned thankfully after missing a full year, he is only 20 years old. The others still have not returned to full health or their careers.
I haven’t heard of a single player with any vaccine complication side effects.

I can list soccer and tennis players who have suffered vaccine injuries. where those NHL players vaccinated? if you're an elite athlete where you body is your livelihood why risk heart issues.

Why risk a greater chance of heart issues from covid?
To answer your question, no none of them were vaccinated. Rossi, Sutter, and Stalock all got covid before vaccines were available, and Archibald is a notorious and outspoken anti-vaxxer.
What are the names of your players? I haven’t heard of any tennis players having a bad reaction, or soccer for that matter but I barely follow soccer at all.
