Former world #18 Albert Ramos Vinolas, who endured a tough time on tour in 2018 and recently exited the top 100 for a brief period, is currently on a nine-match winning streak on the main tour and has won 15 of his last 17 matches on tour, which earned him the second ATP World Tour title of his career at Gstaad and a couple of semifinal appearances at Perugia Challenger and Bastad.
Superior ability and playing in front of the home crowd makes Dominic Thiem the firm favorite, but Albert Ramos Vinolas is in supreme form at the moment, and he should be able to make this a close contest. The pair's previous two meetings (1-1) on tour concluded in straight sets, but this one would most probably go to the distance.
