WTA US Open Qualies
Today I will be playing a match to try and build my bankroll for my favorite sport to wager on college football.
I will use this match in a 2-team parlay as I have been doing recently and keep the 2 team “OPEN” and if I win today, I will pick a college game and team in 3- or 4-weeks’ time to complete my 2-team parlay
E. Lys -204 (at Bookmaker) over Coco Vandeweghe
Coco Vandeweghe is 31 yrs. old and has a ranking of #291 and her best tennis is clearly behind her.
She is 4-9 in her last 13 matches.
She last played and lost on Aug. 13 at a challenger in Standford against American Robin Montgomery ranked #148
E. Lys is a German 21 years old who is currently ranked #145 and her best tennis and future is still in front of her.
She is 8-5 in her last 13 matches.
She last played on hard courts in a tourney in Poland on Aug. 10 and won 2 matches and loss 1 in this tourney.
At this stage of Coco’s career, she plays with recklessness and hits all out on almost every opportunity with a big forehand to win points quickly from the opening point. She is not willing to grind and work the point. She plays very little defensive tennis at all; she has never ever been patient enough or fit enough to hit 5 to 8 shots back-to-back to win 1 point.
She serves big and tries to get free points at every opportunity.
She is a big lady (6’1 and around 180lbs) who is rarely fit or has ever had the stamina to play long 2-hour matches or to run and play defensive tennis and use up precious energy.
Note* the term Human backboard would never be associated with Coco’s name.
Note* if and when Coco has to run forward to try and get to a drop shot you will see that she is clearly not an athlete and lacks quickness or explosiveness or fitness.
Moving side to side 3 or 4 steps either way at the baseline to hit groundies makes you think she has athletic ability, but she does not.
E. Lys is young and fit and grew up in Germany on clay courts and will run and grind and play defense all day long.
If CoCos 1 serve is on and her forehand is clicking she will win. However, rarely in the last several years are her serve and forehand working at the same time and her unforced errors pile up quickly.
My thoughts are that the young lady grinder (E. Lys) will display patience and make much fewer unforced errors and pick up this win for me my future parlay wager.
“IF” Coco’s serve is on and her forehand is working she has a very good chance to win.
I will leave it at that.
